Cops!

Cops!
(What follows is an angry rant by a young driver. Read at your own discreation though I will curb all abrasive language for those with virgin ears and eyes)
So I'm driving home tonight about midnight. I just graduated high school and was out with some friends, shooting pool at the local pool hall, smoking a few celebritory cigars and the like. Drop off my friends and I'm heading home. Of course it is a friday night and I speed on a regular basis. I'm driving the most familiar road I think there is to me, doing about 70 in the 50 mile per hour zone. This didn't seem all that dangerous or foolhardy on my part given the time and the fact that i hadn't seen another car, let alone a police officer, for the entire trip. Come up over a rise with my music turned up. By the time i heard my radar detector go off, it was too late. State police officer pulled a U-turn and pulled me over. I was as nice as possible considering my rising temper and turned over my license and registration. I'm thinking at most a warning, though i was speeding by a large margin, considering this is my first offense. Nope! The "nice" policeman says he's "cutting me a break" about being out past 12 and since it's my graduation, he lowered the speed from 71 to 69(AHHHHHH!!!!) and saved me about 200 bucks. So i end up with a 75 dollar citation, two points on my license and a thoroughly ruined graduation night.
Now, the irony in this story is that just about everyone else in my graduating class is more than likely out either drunk or getting high and driving, and I'M the one who get's pulled over. I went out of my ****ing way to avoid such parties. I chalk it up to bad luck. Plus, where i was stopped, is at the bottom of a long hill. Everyone speeds when they come off it, i was just unlucky enough to get stopped. It was the same place my older brother was stopped his first time. Maybe my family is cursed or something. All of these are mere excuses offered up by a young kid who think's he knows best and is untouchable. Older members of forum please lecture away. Just needed to vent before i explode. Tommorrow morning i tell my parents, so wish me luck with that. I think they'll understand. At least i hope they will....

You broke the law and got caught, get over it. No reason to be angry at the world, it's YOUR fault. Yeah, it sucks that it was your graduation night and all, but that doesn't really change anything. Consider yourself getting off very cheap though, here in Florida doing 69 in a 50 is about a $175 ticket! Don't ask me how I know..... I've had my share over the years, and the only person I can get mad at is myself.

First time being caught speeding??
The nice policeman cut me a break about being out past 12 and since it's my graduation, he lowered the speed from 71 to 69 and saved me about 200 bucks.
out past 12?? What the ****, how old are you??-

see above comment about being young and learning. Remember that "mean" cop saved you 200 bucks

Thank you for the invitation to flame away. I found this to be most enjoyable.
Hopefully you'll learn from your mistakes.
You don't get to be old without making mistakes, but learning from them is what makes you wise.

Maybe someday you'll get mugged or robbed at gunpoint and the only person brave enough to stop the robber will be that cop that pissed you off so much and "ruined your graduation night".
On a similar note, does anyone even remember/care about their graduation night?? It's like being upset that someone spanked you the day you learned to go from crawling to walking.....it's another day...nothing real special about it unless you're a "special needs" student.

Yeah I would agree in that you got off easy. lets say he did just give you a warning "dont let me catch you again son"
the next night or a couple days later since your a self admitted speeder he tags you again I doubt he would have lowered you ticket speed down, he might have even added a few mph on to it
I understand that you were just venting and this is a good midium for that but you did really just get off with a warning in a sense

Yeah my state sucks when it comes to this. We have the planes in the air, and the unmarked Volvo V70 grocery getters, etc.....
WA loves givin people tickets for speeding etc.
I've seen worse than 20 over... and survived... you'll do the same.
I remember my graduation.. right after the ceremony... I got in my old *** Cutlass, forgot that there was this low rock in front of my car to prevent me from avoiding the parking lot speed bumps, and put it in drive and hung my car up on the stupid *** rock.... 4 (*%(% years I had gone there and was finally happy to be out of the hellhole and it still bit me once more.... *#*$ happens.....
