Curiososity: How much and how often do you have to pay to re-register your vehicle?
I bought my Protege5 in December of 2001, and my registration expires at the end of this year. I recieved the renewal form today, and I owe $36 bucks! Im just trying to vent, since I hate all these fees that my state charges for various things that you own.
Just wondering what other states charge, and how often they charge.
Feel free to vent.

Taxes is what kills me!! We have one of the worse school systems in the U.S. and approximately 35.9% of the taxes goes to the school board. They are always misspending tax dollars. They had a building made downtown and got fancy lighting, marble walls and floors, cherry oak furniture, and yet the text books are so outdated and schools are so run down. Fucktards!! Vehicle renewel is $24.00 and taxes are 194.73 for a 2001 Protege, totalling $210.13. I wonder how they are going to mismanage my tax money this year?
My parents have to pay property tax on their boat and the engine on the boat. WTF? The Engine?!?!?!!
If you lease a car, do you pay property tax????? It's almost worth leasing a car.

Regi is every 2 years in NY - costs me something like $50 for 2 years I think.
In NY, registration costs are based on the weight of the vehicle.
I was amazed at Arizona's system of registration - which is based on the VALUE of the vehicle - I believe it's 2% of the blue book value or something like that.
Registering a car in AZ can be VERY expensive - 2% = $1000 a YEAR for a $50,000 car. Even our Protege's would cost $300-$400 when brand new. Of course, as the car ages, the costs go down (blue book value falls).

My 2002.5 P5 cost $336.00 when new that was only for 9 months as I bought it in july and it is only good for a year. You register based on your month of birth. I also have to have it inspected every year for $20.00. Those costs are good as my parents just bought a 2003 Jeep and to register cost over $500.00
