Dream Team is out

Figured you would be happy Makaveli
USA deserves what happened to them, even if they lacked the preparation time compared to other teams.
Now they have to go through the tournament of Americas to even be qualified for 2004 Olympics, which means ARGENTINA will be waiting
Shaq, Kobe, TMac, Duncan, and Kidd, NOW are you guys willing to play????

They deserve it somehow, though I was shooting for USA (whoo hoo). I think it got to their heads that because they're NBA stars would automaticaly bring them the trophy. Nah uh, doesn't work that way. You have to earn it. It'll prolly be a different story if Shaq and the rest were in the team.

I feel you. Maybe they'll focus on playing some damn ball instead of counting the zeros in their bank accounts and fighting the never ending battle over who's got the most ice. All these guys are ridiculous.
Anymore these days, Basketball and Baseball players have really taken the fun out of the games. They needed a shot of "ego-be-gone." I'm glad they lost.
Time to focus on a real mans sport......College and NFL FOOTBALL!!! Go NOLES and TB Bucs!!! Ok,OK, GO NOLES!!!!

bo, congrats on "your" win. you have about 2yrs to live it up as the nxt olympics will bring the real players to the table. these clowns shouldn't have represented the us. about 5 years ago, no one knew who they were.
-ben wallace? released from orlando
-jermain o'neal? rode the pine in portland
-paul pierce? still at kansas?
-andre miller? college ball was good
-elton brand? 6'8" rookie with the bulls (i think)
-antonio davis? indiana? toronto? who cares.
don't get me wrong, they are good players, but did not deserve to represent the usa. the comittee grabbed a bunch of high profile players that didn't really pay their dues. and we lost 3 games bc of that. they would have been better off sending the college boys.
but i can't take away from the quality wins of the three countries, so congrats to all who they represented on this board.

OMFG! I can't believe they lost to Spain in the 5TH PLACE game!!!
and the final kicker for team USA's poor showing, from ESPN.com:
"The sixth-place finish is the worst ever by USA Basketball in the World Basketball Championship competition."
now Yugoslavia will face Argentina for the gold. Just for the sake of our fellow Protege owner Makaveli, I will root for Yugo in the gold medal game, go Yugo!

oh, one more thing
because the US didn't win this tournament, they'll actually have to go through the Tournament of Americas (where Argentina will be waiting, if they lose tomorrow ) just to QUALIFY for the Olympics. And I believe the qualifying tournament, to be held next year, will actually conflict with NBA regular season schedule
the road to 2004 Olympics just got a lot more complicated

the us deserved to lose. from what i understand, some nba players turned down the opp to play for the us. damn, i wish i was soooooo f-ing talented i can say no to some ppl's dream opportunity. now, the us looks like little girls and now everyone thinks they have a legit shot at olympic gold.
on the plus side, ppl will come to see
a) the us lose again
b) the us pound other countries like nobody's biz
either was IF we make the olympics, it'll be fun to watch. but yeah for now, go yugo!

We had a big celebration here in Vancouver in downtown after the win, they had to shut down traffic
thanx 1Hawaiian as well for the support.... just for reference, Yugoslavia played really bad in the finals, and if it wasn't for Bodiroga and Marko Jaric (who's coming to the Clippers next season), we would've lost badly.....
