Can somebody explain the flames from the exhaust. I know our parents may have done them in their hemis and rat engines, but I didnot know it could be done in a FI engine.

I know our parents generation used to put a spark plug in the rear end of the exhaust to make it flame like that. Like in the led sleds mostly. I would say that it just added a flare to the movie.

The FIRST thing I noticed while watching that movie is when we first see Bryan in his green eclipse out trying to hit top speed. Did anyone else notice that he shifts 7 times. It actually shows him shifting 6 times but as they show the back of the car you can hear it shift again, for a total of 7 shifts

On their cat's they got a small tube running from up front to supply air to the cat, and when they have high RPM's (8K and above they redline) and then downshift, they can shoot up to a 1 meter flame. it happens fr ALL of them because the wankel doesn’t burn all the gas when high RPM's.

It is pretty pimp to see an FD spit flames after each shift, there’s a lot of pics of them shootin on the rx7 forum...
Thats interesting about the RX-7, But what about the civic, integra, eclipse? I know most race cars spit fire when downshifting, I was just referring to mac daddy's post. Thanks for the info.

Not to mention 8000 RMP right before launching. That seems a little high. I have an auto tranny but isn't it better to be around 3000 RMP when launching. Even if you are reving for fun, 8000 is pretty damn high. IMO
Fun movie though.

My friends civic had a H22A (prelude engine) in it, after it got built, it was running SUPER RICH, and if he would drop gears on the highway, it would shoot a 6" flame out of the exhaust! It was sick....especially when he would start pulling on a camaro or mustang and shoot huge flames...hehe....but the bad part is that his exhaust smoked like crazy and the back bumper of his white car would turn black from all the carbon....fortunately it was just a problem with the fuel regulator and after replacing it all was good!

Just thought I would share that.....

Biggest error was the movie itself. Watched 15 minutes and turned it off. Utter crap.

Nothing but nothing beats John Frankenheimer for driving movies. See Ronin or Grand Prix to see some real driving. OK...wait, scratch that...the pinnacle is Rendezvous if you can find it.

I heard rumors of a another Fast and Furious coming out soon from a friend, i hope its much better and some hot imports actually get in some action ! And its more Realilistic !

I believe the new Fast and Furious movie will teach us some new things like

Shifting 10 times instead of 6
Wheels Vanishing off rides and trucks
Quad Clutching and Turtle Shifting
New technology to have unlimited NOS
Seeing a 2002 Escalade spit flames
Watching a car lose control and crash into a light post head on and somehow take flight

"It's all about being all show and no go
with the spoiler so high and the chasis so low.
Yet, through the dark tint, and the bright fog-light glow,
I don't need a hint, because I already know,
that despite all the decals and the loud exhaust noise,
it's a gutless car driven by them god-damn rice-boys!"
