Extended warranty

So I have been averaging 117 miles a day on my Pro. Having owned it for 8 weeks now, I have 6500 miles on it.

If I keep going at this rate, I'll be hitting 42K after the first year. However, since I don't expect as much travel after the summer, it will probably be more like 38000 miles the first year.

This means that after 14000 more miles (4-6 more months), my car's warranty will be gone. 50000 miles and bye-bye warranty after 1.5 years.

However, I have a 5-year loan out on the car. I don't want to drive the car for 3.5 more years without warranty.

Let's take the "conservative" 100 miles a day to do some estimates:

1 year - 36,000 miles
1.5 years - 54,000 miles
2 years - 72,000 miles
3 years - 108,000 miles
4 years - 144,000 miles

I was thinking of buying extended warranty from warrantydirect.com, about which I've heard good things. Got a quote on my current Protege:

(this one is shortest years, highest miles)
4 Years / 100,000 Miles $650 ($100 ded) $850 ($0 ded)

(this one is the only 125K option)
5 Years / 125,000 Miles $875 ($100 ded) N/A ($0 ded not available)

(this one is longest years, highest miles)
7 Years / 100,000 Miles $750 ($100 ded) $950 ($0 ded)

So their plans max out at 100 miles except for one. This is, by the way, is way cheaper than the extended warranty that the dealer tried selling to me for $1200 (that would have gone up to 7 years / 70K).

This is for "MaxCare Plus", their best coverage plan (bumper to bumper, excluding standard wear-and-tear).

According to my "mad" driving schedule above, if I get 4yr / 100K, I'll run out of warranty just before 3 years. If I get 5yr / 125K, I'll run out of warranty at about 3.5 years.

So I guess 4yr/100K seems like the best option, since for a little less than 5yr / 125K I can get a $0 deductible policy.

And is it worth paying for $0 deductible warranty anyway? How often do <$100 warranty repairs occur anyway?

If anyone has thoughts on this, feel free to share...

Another thought is that I may subside the amount of miles that I put on the car after a year or two. So I may be doing only 50 miles a day after two years... In that case, we got:

2 yr - 72,000 miles
4 yr - 108,000 miles
