FAQ / VIN codes
Do you have different VIN codes there in N-America or how come there are so many things in my car's VIN that dont match with that shown in FAQ
For example:
Model years: L=90, M=91, N=92, P=93, R=94, S=95, T=96, V=97, W=98, X=99,
Y=00, 1=01, 2=02, 3=03
Mine is 0
Vehicle Type (1=car, 2=truck/van, 3=van, 4=truck)
Mine is Z (so what is it if it's not a car, not a van and not even a truck )
these are just examples, also other differences found.
And I'm talking about Gen3 Pro
Just curious...
Thanks,

Thanks Richard
I also found it
http://www.vehicleidentificationnumber.com/mazda.html
that's how it often goes:
1. you search and you don't find
2. you ask from some board
3. you make one more search and find it immediately

Mazda has frequently marketed cars differently in Canada and the U.S., often causing confusion in the process. Some option packages are different in each country although they share the same name (such as the 99-00 Protege options). Mazda has also sold option packages in Canada that weren't available stateside (such 4-wheel disk brakes and sport suspension on the 90-94 323 hatchback), used different model names in the U.S. and Canada (Canadian Precidia = U.S. MX-3), and even sold car models that weren't available in the U.S. (95 323LS/GS hatchback, 98 RX-7). I saw a 95 323GS last year while visiting Halifax and it freaked me out because I had never seen one before.
Carfax obviously has not done all the research to differentiate between U.S. and Canadian models.

In the link I posted the plant is marked with 2 characters so maybe that 0 is for it. So 00=Hiroshima, 01=Hofu
That's my guess...
