Finally Caught
Well after years of speeding I was finally caught tonight. I was clocked going 48 in a 30 zone. To top things off I was driving without my license. The cop was pretty cool and didn't give me any grief about my tint, headlights, turn signals, etc. Oh well, guess I have my day in court. The cop said if I appear in court with my license that will take care of that offense and I will only be left with the speeding ticket. Well there goes money I could have spent on my car. At least I went for this long, and at least I wasn't going about 80 like I usually do.

Fight the speeding ticket! Check out motorists.org, see if you can come up with some sort of defense. Check whether the speed limit was legally posted (in some areas, you can't post a speed limit unless there was an engineering study conducted), stuff like that.. there's lot of web sites on the subject.
Good luck, it's 18mph over, but I'm sure that you weren't about to knock little children over or anything.
How did you get caught? Radar?

It was at 11:30 at night on a road that shoudln't be 30mph zone to start out with. I was actually going rather slow compared to what I usually do on that road. I have been caught speeding on this road before but only got a warning. Yeah, the cop was shooting radar, and the speed he recorded was actually correct.
The only thing that could get me out of the ticket was the fact that I don't think from the turn I made to the time the cop pulled me over was that the limit wasn't posted. That might help alot. I will have to go back and check more carefully.

I read somewhere that they are required to calibrate their radar at least once every two days. Some local laws require once a day. Chek up in your area on this. Then go to the PD where you go pulled over, and ask to see the records for the cops car that pulled you over for that nite. If he hasnt calibrated it, then the judge has to throw your ticket out in court and you pay the dismissal fee of like 10 dollars. That and it stays off your record.
I read that somewhere on here, try a search. Good luck.
Let us know how it goes.

Look like I got some work in front of me. I might just ask my neighbor, who is a state patrol man, to see if he can take care of the ticket. He did for my sister when she got her first ticket.

I don't have one yet, but I might need one now. What kind of detector do you have and how do you like it?

dude, a single ticket for merely speeding isnt all that bad...lets see...(begins ticking off fingers) 2 careless and reckless 1 20 over 1 stop sign violation (didnt see it, it was covered by a tree...got thrown out) and ive got no points on my license and merely a really high lawyers fee (and ive got him on retainer) get a lawyer...itll save u a lot of hassle

yea well proto2k knows all about my first ticket.....the juvenile court system gave it to me in the ***
luckily im OFF probation now...
lol, just subpeona the calibration and officer training records, say that you were going with the flow of traffic and by staying the speed limit you could have caused a a fluxuation in traffic flow resulting in people cutting into the other lane and causing a major wreck, so you were only looking out for the good of society

Well now that you're off of probation it is time for another ticket. I know everyone here suggests fighting it but I think I will just pay the fine and be done with it. It won't be but around $150, and I am okay with it. It will be too hard to make it to court with classes and such, plus it is just a huge pain in the ***. Oh well.
