I would be much happier with the mustang line if it did have independant(sp) rear. That is the worst part.

The GTO could not be more bland. NO ONE even looked at the old GTO when they made the new one. It's a joke. people are all over it because it has a corvette engine. wow big deal, a corvette engine. Too bad that Corvette engine is wraped in a boring rentle car.

Chris, I think Ford has played around with the IRS idea before. The current Cobra's have them and the drag racers HATE them. Die hard mustang fans DEMAND the solid rear axle. I think ford would turn away more buyers if they made the IRS standard. I agree though it would be a much more civil car with it.

yea I've heard that argument before about the drag racers. But in real world driving, you so need the IRS around bumpy corners and getting milk say. I agree, it makes the car much nicer to drive.

I think the argument is that people who buy the Cobra aren't worried about how well it allows you to carry milk.....people that buy protege's worry about that!!

True but when all is said and done, the car has to do the day to day things very well first and foremost. Great it's fast but is it comfortable and forgiving picking up the kids from soccer camp.

I hear what you're saying. I bought the p5 because it's functional first, fun second and fast last! Most cobra owners who buy cobra's have their priorities flipped from mine.

Yea ...I have to look at it from my perspective. Can I take the pack n play and the high chair in the trunk....yup.....coool.

I drove an STI today, and that has to be the best IMO. 4 seats adults can sit in. HUGE trunk. 4 doors. Everything fits, people, stuff and it goes like a madman!

Unfortunately the first GTO I saw was already "riced" out. Hood vents and scoops, chrome, decals... etc.

I don't have an opinion of the new GTO except maybe that it looks a little bland. I have no idea about the performance personally. I wouldn't mind a test-drive.

My philosophy about the vette-powered GTO is this: putting a vette engine into a crap car doesn't give you a cool car...

"You can polish a turd but it's still a turd"

Putting the vette engine in the GTO is like putting hubcaps on a tractor....whats the point?? They should've used a nive hopped version of the boosted 3.8L v6.
