Ford Focus SVT

I just picked up a copy of sport compact car, and I was reading about the focus svt. It was the first time reading the magazine, and I like it a lot better than super-street. SCC covers a lot of different cars, not just honda/acura/mitsu.

Anyways, I think the focus SVT kicks some serious ***. 170hp stock, plus a bolt on supercharger in the works from Jackson Racing. I'm no expert, but I'm assuming that would easily make around 230HP. Not to mention some intake/exhaust work that you could do... Dizam that's one nice pocket-rocket.

I'd get this car over the 02 Civic Si ANYDAY!

Yea it looks realy cool. Really cheap too! Ya gotta dig any domestic car company that is willing to put 17 inch tires on a hatchback.

Yea true, it is a ford but so is my protege (technically) I got the ford employee discoutn on it! Anyway Ford is like any other big automaker, there is goign to be lots of bad cars adn lots of good cars in any lot. My contour is a good example. I know many people who've had lots and lots of problems with em but mine(knock on wood) has very few. Our old car (92 MX6 had over 200k with mostly orignal parts waterpump, alt, etc.) most Mx6 that I know of were usually not so dependable. Luck is a big part of buyng a new car (unless its german)

Davard, yes, it is still a ford, but sport compact car had nothing bad to say about it. And for around $18k, it sounds like a great car.

My roomate at school has a 2000 escort zx2. Yes, IT also is a ford, but I really like it. It handles well, and it has suprisingly good power for 130HP, it pulls really nicely. Stock 0-60 for a zx2 that year is about 7.4... That's not bad at all. The zx2 s/r can probably pull almost a 7 flat.

In any case, I'm happy with ford... Why? Well, it sees the market for these compact cars, and is actually doing something about it. I don't care WHO makes the car, just so long as there is one more sporty compact car out there that ISN'T a civic or integra or eclipse! The more the merrier I say!

One more thing I forgot to mention... And I hope no one will argue with this, because otherwise they're crazy! Ford makes the F150 Lightning, and it's *only* 34k, I think that's all I need to say!

anyone ever driven a lightning? I got to drive an older one holy fastness batman. The new ones are only faster and handle better. Yea its a truck but the thing handles and accelerates better then a mustang GT! And you can still tow your boat behind. If you ever get a chance to drive the new lightning do it. They are quite impressive. (though not as impressive as the cyclone but thats a different story)

Thats not true, you better have your fingers crossed if you purchase a VW. I hear horror stories about them, and I hear alot of praise also.

I'm sure that once the protege gets some decent mods it may be able to run with them too. However I'm still impressed by the SVT folks at Ford. They have done some pretty good thigns to the cars that they have touched. And you gotta admit the lightning just looks damn cool. (for a truck)
