Front Plate Survey

Just wanted to find out how many people have to deface their cars putting a front plate on due to their state's / province's laws... Here in Alberta, we get off without having them, but most other places are not so lucky.

SO, do you need a front lisence plate where you live?

Of course you've gotta have it in NY. Oh well - if anything, it keeps the parking garage guys from nicking up my front bumper, too - an extra little protection I suppose.

I remember reading a story about how the laws are structured - I think this was in NY - that you can do anything you want to a license plate, so long as ALL of the lettering is still visible (including the word "New York" and "Empire State"). So this guy cut his plate around all the lettering, "stylizing" it. Dunno - I thought about taking it off and putting it behind the lower grille, but just haven't bothered.

5Speed - then what is that "fuzzed" out in your sig? Looks like a Sentra and a license plate to me!

Not required to have one in Oklahoma. What is the purpose of them anyhow? I've always wondered.

We are required to have them on the front here in New Jersey, but I took mine off along with the mounting braket and now I keep the plate on my dashboard showing through the windshield. It seems to be a popular thing for Mazda owners to do around here being that everyone in my club (all Mazda's) has them on the dashboard.

CA requires 'em.

Some people don't put them on. Some of them get away with it for years, other people get ticketed. Just luck. Usually it's just a $10 fix it ticket.

here in minnesota we gotta have them. but with my old car, good ol' pontiac sunbird, piece o' crap, i took it off and had it under my seat. i went by countless numbers of cops and they never even slowed down or looked back. a lot of people don't have them on, they're not too strict about it here. i think every state should have a no front plate law. they just ruin the look of the car.

That was the first set of pictures i took of the se-r when i brought it home from the dealer... that is actually the Dealer logo plate thing, says DILLON on it I thought it looked retarded so i fuzzed it out. now it has no plate up there since i took that off in july.

i plan on getting a better picture when bryan comes down (islandprospeed)

yeah the fine state of iowa makes you have a front plate. you can somewhat get by with out one. but will get pulled of sooner or later i did with my last car. your mostly be ok in the city but once you start going outside of town the state popo will get you. they give you a fix it ticket which you are reg. to send back in after you have fixed it. oops forgot to do that. hehe but i soo wish we didnt need one.
