NY car so she has some underbody rust, needs a new exhaust. I plan on getting a MBC,Zombie chip, and a new clutch. That should keep me happy for quite a while.
ok ...I doubt that you killed Mustang GT or T/A with stock MX6 GT. Mustang V6 for sure(heck , I can beat it with my DX) ,but for GT you are going to need more than Cone filter my friend.

What kills me is that , you are gona upboost on those 15 yrs old internals... man , you need to rebuild it from top to bottom for what you are after. Its funny you are talking about chip to eliminate boost cut and MBC and my friend's Probe has turned all way up to 20 psi without a chip.
I did not see anywhere what you are doing about fuel management.Start with crappy 15 yrs old stock fuel pump and go from there.

Let's not forget that MX6 GT SOHC head flows like crap... 12V only!!!You will need more thancouple of mods to get 13 sec flat , plus some hardcore weight saving too.

A Protege (stock) is a dog on wheels.

198 lbs. of trq. just isn't that much power. There are PLENTY of cars out there in the 20k range that make that much stock.

Ceej....the $20K range??? He paid $600!!! I think you're missing the point......and there is only 1 car in the $20K range that makes power like that....the Neon SRT-4 and it's $21K.

actually you give Mustang Gt's too much credit...94-98 GT's had max of about 240hp and they were heavy as hell. I did actually beat a GT on the way home from work like 2days after i bought the car. Never made any claims to beat a TA...however straight up by the numbers an '88 TA is slower than an 88 MX-6 GT...and actually plenty of members on MX6.com have upped boost without a rebuild..plus mine has fairly low miles for an '88..100 thousand even on the odometer. Plus I did a compression test and I'm reading 157 +/- 3 across the cylinders...I do need the chip also,I hit boost cut like crazy when the TB boot leaked, so I know its working on my car...fuel management is what the zombie chip is for, it does enrich the fuel maps.Plus there are guys running up to 14lbs on stock fuel.I will bew upgrading to the bigger injectors off the 90-92 gt's,but this will cost me maybe $30 at the junkyard i go to. Trust me I know this car...my brother in law has one too, he has had his for 2-3 years and I have helped him work on his plenty. And I think that 3",zombie chip, and a boost controller should get me to about 215 hp 275 lb-ft...which should get me into the 13's

Right ... It's because stock boost cut is set on 12 psi.. Get a Boost Controler and try it .

Talk to Flapoc-pres his on Probetalk..His 89 Probe is boosting past boost cut without a chip.

I know. ,but They prolly have rebuild their 2.2 turbo's and upgraded suspension , brakes, light wheels and better brakes.
All I'm saying don't rush it . You are gonna blow it upif you are not careful. I would hate to see your post on MX6.com " Guy's I lost boost and CP check was not so good"

It's all good man.
Oh, BTW what does the relay(black) under BP ECU? I have ATX harness too. Maybe I need to hunt MTX harness to see what's up ..
I have FE3 project going on and I was trying to make BP ECU work?

I also think he missed the part that it make 198lb ft to the wheels..thats more like 240lb-ft to the advertisement readers that just look at manufacturers specs on cars

just to clarify the 94-98 Gt's made 225hp. I owned a 94 GT vert and it was slow as hell until you got it on the interstate and would eat some people up!

Hey Mac, I'm taking my wife to orlando for our anniversary this year in december. We're going to Universal Studios and Disney World. How far away are you?? We should get together and spend the day totalling up how much I'm getting ripped off!!

Very nice...my wife is decidng on what she wants her new car to be....I showed her the 04 Mazda3s, the 05 Focus ST 2.3L, and the Scion xB.....all three in the same $18K price range....she likes the mazda best!! What can I say, I love this girl!!

If we have a new car by then we'll drive it down, if not, I'll be in my modded P5. Should be a neat cruise with no cats, hot cams, full exhaust, intake, and a lightened interior (no sound deadening!).

Well we have had guys on mx6.com pull 15.3's stock so those times are off ...omg this guy is so lucky though that Ryan and Jason take so long to respond...and once again my comparison was a Trans Am and a MX-6 GT same year...not a Formula and not a Trans Am GTA...and again lead sleds..On a real race course I'd eat them alive...Try and put a TA thru the twisties. Can you say oversteer

There is no difference between a Formula/Trans AM/GTA. All the same car.

You could uh? LOL.

Here is what Pontiac did in the Grand Am cup/motorola cup series from 1998 on...
real racing.

After moving to the United States in the early ’80s, he started racing cars professionally in 1984 and took his first professional win in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk Endurance Championship in 1986 at Sears Point in a Pontiac Firebird. Pilgrim won 20 more races in 106 Firehawk series' starts in the next decade. Considering the level of competition in Firehawk, his 20 percent win ratio is remarkable. Andy’s unbeaten – and likely unbeatable – world record of 116 consecutive race finishes in IMSA / PSCR events is unprecedented.

umm yes there is a difference in the Trans Am and the GTA..the Trans Am came with a 5.0L V8 making a whopping 175 hp...the 5.7L was an optional engine and definitely was not the norm. To add, 88 Trans Am's with a 5.7L are far and few in between while the 5.0L's are a dime a dozen...once again apples to Oranges though..when your arguement for that one doesnt work you flip to comparing a 98 Trans Am to an 88 MX-6.You also include a professional driver behind the wheel of a car that is race prepped...Here's a better statement..You put me behind the wheel of my car and you behind the wheel of a Trans Am on a race course and I will kick your ***. And they wouldnt even be in the same classes. How 'bout that
