This a good ring?

Personally, I went for a little contrast in the stone design. Either go with and oval or round main stone and the square smaller diamons or vice-versa. Makes them all stand out more. Nice otherwise. Also, thinks about getting a platinum band if it is not.
edit. I am a dumbass. I looked at the picture again and see that it has 3 different shapes already. I would maybe go for just 2 though.

Just MHO and $.02 - but I prefer a simple, one-stone ring.
Engagement rings with the side-stones and stuff are a bit much, IMO. Having a simple setting with one nice rock really sets it off, and you KNOW what it means.
The side stones make it look less like an engagement ring, and more like just jewelry.
It's a nice piece though, that's for sure. If the lady likes it and you like it, you're all set.

having bought many a ring for the old lady (she's still a girlfriend), i would highly recommend not getting platinum if she is going to be wearing the ring every day. platinum, contrary to popular belief, is actually a very soft metal, softer than gold. it WILL get the shine scratched out of it. white gold is a better way to go if you want to go for the platinum look. it's also cheaper. those diamonds are nice... just be sure to get yours certified. also, go to a place where they will do lifetime repairs on their settings. just in case. and in case you didn't know... any diamond ring of that caliber of any decent weight and clarity (~1 c.t.w. clean) will cost you right about $5K, unless you know someone in the industry and can cut you a deal at cost. step up to 2 c.t.w. and you are looking at about 15K-30K. at 3 c.t.w. with the center being about 2 carats, it's about 30-60K. anything bigger than that and i say get a ferrari instead.

That ring looks like the one I gave to my wife. She gets lots of compliments from it. Is that ring white gold or platinum? My wifes ring is platinum, which is a more precious metal than gold. It cost alot more, but its worth it in the long run. Good luck on your purchase.
