Yep. And all this year I kept telling Scott I wanted to take a weekend trip to NOLA just to see the French Quarter, go to Margaritaville, etc. I even ordered the tourist guidebooks and got all the maps!! Guess I won't be going any time soon...

I feel bad that I'm going to South Florida for a romp on the beach w/my girl, take her out for a night of dinner & dancing and there are ppl without houses and family members missing....Is it wrong that I'll have to fill my tank up twice to reach Miami, once or twice while I'm down there and twice on the way back? Even though I damn well know ppl are shanking each other for a gallon. Crazy right? We're sitting here, drinking clean water, probably eating chips or some sort of snack food and those poor souls are looting just so they can have enough strength to carry on. It's like a damn 3rd world crisis.... In America.
I feel mad guilty, knowing I'm sitting here at my desk watching the end game of this disaster on CNN, while I type this....reciting the lyrics to "Where's Your Money" by Busta Rhymes & the Old Dirty Bastard...thinking in the back of my head that some desperate guy is sticking some dude up in a flooded alley saying "Where's YOUR money!" while he brandishes a handgun or an AK-47 that he just ripped from the numerous gun shops down there.
I forsee Marshall Law...mark my words.

Contrary to many media reports, martial law has not been declared in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, because no such term exists in Louisiana state law. Rather, a state of emergency has been declared, which does give some powers similar to that of martial law. On the evening of August 31, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin did declare "martial law" (in name at least) in the city and said that "officers don't have to worry about civil rights and Miranda rights in stopping the looters.Ye?"

The poor and lower middle class people are picking through garbage etc just to fill their stomachs. If anyone remembers Somalia/Ethopia and the widespread famine that took place there...this is the beginning sign of that....notice no media coverage of Iraq now...go figure. .
