Yep. And all this year I kept telling Scott I wanted to take a weekend trip to NOLA just to see the French Quarter, go to Margaritaville, etc. I even ordered the tourist guidebooks and got all the maps!! Guess I won't be going any time soon...

Nope...I enjoyed the French Quarter....I'm going to miss Bubba Gumps'...that restaurant was the shiz!

I feel bad that I'm going to South Florida for a romp on the beach w/my girl, take her out for a night of dinner & dancing and there are ppl without houses and family members missing....Is it wrong that I'll have to fill my tank up twice to reach Miami, once or twice while I'm down there and twice on the way back? Even though I damn well know ppl are shanking each other for a gallon. Crazy right? We're sitting here, drinking clean water, probably eating chips or some sort of snack food and those poor souls are looting just so they can have enough strength to carry on. It's like a damn 3rd world crisis.... In America.

I feel mad guilty, knowing I'm sitting here at my desk watching the end game of this disaster on CNN, while I type this....reciting the lyrics to "Where's Your Money" by Busta Rhymes & the Old Dirty Bastard...thinking in the back of my head that some desperate guy is sticking some dude up in a flooded alley saying "Where's YOUR money!" while he brandishes a handgun or an AK-47 that he just ripped from the numerous gun shops down there.

I forsee Marshall Law...mark my words.

Contrary to many media reports, martial law has not been declared in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, because no such term exists in Louisiana state law. Rather, a state of emergency has been declared, which does give some powers similar to that of martial law. On the evening of August 31, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin did declare "martial law" (in name at least) in the city and said that "officers don't have to worry about civil rights and Miranda rights in stopping the looters.Ye?"

Bands of people drove by the nursing home, shouting to residents, "Get out!" On Wednesday, 80 residents, most of them in wheelchairs, were being evacuated to other nursing homes in the state.
"We had enough food for 10 days," said Peggy Hoffman, the home's executive director. "Now we'll have to equip our department heads with guns and teach them how to shoot."
He said there are gangs of armed men moving around the city. At one point, officers stranded on the roof of a hotel were fired at by criminals on the street.
The Times-Picayune newspaper reported that the gun section at a new Wal-Mart had been cleaned out by looters.
That's some gully **** right there....

Watching CNN depresses me.....Someone w/authority needs to step up and get someting done ASAP. Innocent ppl are dying for what? Nothing. We can do drops of supplies for tsunami victims...but can't do the same for our fellow Americans....this country is still f**ked, watch the news and you'll get the jist of what I'm getting at. The poor and lower middle class people are picking through garbage etc just to fill their stomachs. If anyone remembers Somalia/Ethopia and the widespread famine that took place there...this is the beginning sign of that....notice no media coverage of Iraq now...go figure. .
SOS damn it.
