Today, I experienced the most anti-american sentiment from someone who genuinely hates us....and he lives here and owns his own business.
We're experiencing horrible thunderstorms...I'm at work and next door is a high end used car lot specializing in mercedes (etc). They had a tattered and old American flag on their flag pole...barely hanging on. It could go at any minute. My manager (a korean war vet, wounded in action in somalia) wished to go grab the flag and save it before the storm blew it away. We walked next door. Lowered the flag, Cleaned it up, folded it properly and my manager walked it over to the mans shop. He says "I brought you your flag because it was about to get lost."
"That's not my flag."
"Sure it is, it's hanging on your pole. That's not in our lot."
"No, thats not MY flag. That's YOUR flag. This is MY flag" *points to some arab nations flag.
My manager walks back into the store shaking...litterally almost in tears. He was a mix of anger and sadness. I've never heard of something so shitty happening to someone who deserved it less. This man is a veteran of several foreign wars who almost gave his life to protect this country....now he just got his face spit into.

That guy at the used car place doesn't even realize that he is flaunting one of the greatest privelidges of being American: Freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of >you fill in the blank< whatever. It is because he lives in America that he can put up what ever nation's flag he wants and not be carted off to prison or worse yet, silenced. Yet, how ungrateful he remains.

A flag represents a NATION, not a nationality or ethnicity...It would do some people well to remember that
