I didn't make the rules here. The only two things I asked were no blatant cussing and no fighting. These aren't rules. When someone does it I give them multiple warnings and chances to change. If they don't then I hit them in the face with the ban-hammer.

a hammer? ow that's harsh, though to be fair the ban stick doesn't really leave much of a sting

I recently had a small run-in on Matty's (and Chris's) favorite Mazda forum. I had started a thread a while back about a MS6 dual exhaust. There was some of the usual OT posting, didn't really care. I posted an update, and there were two people who immediately had to rip into the cost. The one guy is known for his negative crap (he has blown the engine in his MS6 and has been talking about all the money he is spending for a forged engine etc). It hit me wrong and I called him an idiot, said if he didn't want to buy one then don't but leave the negativity off so others can make up their own minds. He then responded with it's a public forum and too bad if I don't like his opinion. Also threw something in there about third graders on the 'Net. The mod for that section then threatened to close the thread if the name-calling didn't stop (and just a couple of days ago, he started a thread in another section, when someone called him an idiot he did nothing). I barely go there any more, just to check on FS stuff.

It's unfortunate some of the things that go on in forums, about all you can do it find a new home when it gets to be too much (or when you get banned!). I just joined a local forum here, it's small but so far drama free. Going to a meet tonight with a few people, it isn't for any one make but just enthusiasts.

my local forum is full of drama...mostly off topic crap too. Political discussion gets me in most of the trouble. I'm one of only about 3 democrats in Alabama so I'm a big target. Combine that with my inability to take **** from anyone and it's a match made in internet-argument heaven.

I was told a long time ago when I started shipping, never talk about politics or religion. While that is within the confines of the limited community of a ship at sea, it is applicable everywhere. Too many people either can't accept that someone else has their own opinion, or they feel they have to convert everyone to their views.

On another note, just got back from that local meet. Not a lot of people but everyone is secure in their choice of car and appreciates all others. Well, maybe not J-body Chevys! There was an S2000, couple of 240s, two Subaru Legacy GTs (one sedan, one wagon), a Scion xB, and an older Celica. Pretty cool group, sucks that I just found them right before leaving for work.

Back from the dead, eh Mr. Wankel? Thought you died in 1988?

the local forum here is full of drama too.. like way, way worse than msprotege. People lie, cheat, steal among the community all the time on there.

It's WAY negative, way cliquey, etc. I haven't visited the site since April 07.. I registered April 06 and I think had 4000 posts or so when I just decided I had enough with the site. It sucks, but I did meet probably like 10-15 really cool people through it, and I still see those people at autocrosses and such. That forum's issue is that they ban people that are a good part of the community but allow bullies (e-bullying AND in person bullying that I got to have all up in my face) to stay and harass people.

Oh wait, that sounds a whole lot like another forum I know :P seriously I am talking about a local forum though, not that forum

I'm good.

I figured I'd post so I will stop getting the "Mazda3Club Misses You" emails.
