Insurance companies

I found some info on the board about insurance rates and the like, but I did not see one specifically addressing this question...

How is your insurance carrier and would you recommend them to someone else? I am specifically looking for input from people that have filed claims with their carriers. How smooth was the process? If you were at fault, did they then raise your rates through the roof? If you were not at fault, did they still charge you extra? Anyone dealing with any of the "phone only" companies (Geico comes to mind, no agents to deal with locally)?

My current insurance company decided to raise my rates well above the competition quotes that I have when I remove my second car from the policy. That must have been one heck of a multi car discount. Now I am paying nearly twice what the on-line quotes I am getting from other companies are coming back at!!!

TIA,
-JJB

PS. I have a clean driving record and am 30 so the "under 25 penalty" is not a factor
