Interesting Development
Hey guys! The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Issue came out a few days ago! Oh yeah.
Anyway, a really interesting tidbit of information came out in it, and I almost wonder if it was a misprint-- It appears that the 2002 Civic's reliability is rated at only "Average". For most cars that's the norm (read, the best domestic cars tend to be "Average" at best; often worse), but for a Honda I found that *really* shocking. They've established a long, exemplary record of building cars that hold up incredibly well, and unless it's a typo it looks like the Civic is slipping. That's too, too bad.
Meanwhile, the Protege's reliability is listed as good as it gets: "Much better than average".
Although the Civic outscores the Protege in some areas, such as comfort, quietness, etc., and CR rates it higher than the Protege, our Pro's are not that far behind, and our reliability is HIGHER than that of the Civic-- Very interesting, indeed.
And for those who like the Focus? Sorry, but that car is as bad as it gets. Maybe it's quieter and smoother than the Pro or Civic; maybe you like the styling (I respect those who like it, but, personally, I think it's butt ugly-- I really hate it), but you're almost guaranteed to have problems with that car. I guess some American manufacturer traditions (as in, building cars that don't hold up well) die hard.
Anyway, the main thing about this latest issue is the reliability. Man, who would have thought? The Civic's *always* been "Much better than average". This is the first time I've seen it otherwise. Whoa!
Take it easy, all!

you got a point ---- every TOM, DICK, & HARRY--- has a civic but I also own a focus (well my wife does ) but you can't just knock on them (focus) because no matter what performance wise the TURBO is out and there in I think a supercharger . now when the SVT 170hp comes out you put a turbo on that and instance import killer (civic) and its a 2.0 I4.............that crazy to bad mazda has there thumb up there butt about power DON'T BE GREEDY give us more speed
