there is a way to make it disappear....but we won't do that, the thread is here to allow people to express their OPINIONS, and thus they have.........it will disappear down the list as people just get tired of spending time posting in it....and they will...as they do in all threads sooner or later.

My opinion is that I like bunnys, especially fluffy ones.

Seriously I can see both sides of the story. I swear a shitload fuckity hell-***** lot in my posts, and would hate to have that taken away from me. But I also don't want to offend people in the process of expressing my dirty-mouthed self. I use JFC, but not when I type, I'm too lazy...

Ultimately, I think fossil should have been sent a PM or something about why his post was edited, or by whom so he could have asked them why. Hopefully he then would have understood that some people may be offended by using certain obscenities. Maybe if that would have happened, it wouldn't have been such a big deal.

 

I agree funk....and I even have a standardized note that I USUALLY SEND.....as I mentioned.....I was a bit tired and in a hurry that day....and I missed an opportunity. For that I appologize. To tell you the truth....I never even saw this thread till it was three pages long....as I said....I have been a little busy.

 

Why would you change the words in someone's post?

I bet you anything that the mods on here swear more then fossil boy does.


I know that some of the mods don't agree with fossil boy, or can't handle the truth sometimes


It's very hypocritical to be editing someone's post after you yourselves swear.


Sir Nuke, I always thought that you are a good mod, and I still do. I just don't agree with the general concept behind what was done.

 

Since everyone is deciding to throw in what they think, I will too. There are exactly 742 spelling errors in this thread and by my calculations almost 200 punctuation errors.

is that all? we're not as dumb as i thought we were. lol. my punctuation, well i'm just too lazy. grammar, eh.. blah. but my spelling is usually pretty good.

 

swearing was not the issue....it was the specific words used.....I didn't go and edit the post just because I had nothing better to do....nor because it specifically offended ME....but because I recieved numerous complaints about the use of JFC in the post....and based on those complaints....I edited the post.

in contrast....its really no different from someone posting nude photographs and one of us editing the image out of the post.....its really that simple.

 

But you'll notice they got all the "4-letter words" right...

Oh yeah, the reduction of a certain term to "GD" bothers me on another level -in the real world, my initials are GD! hahaha

Sir Nuke: Yes, you're doing your job (very well as always). Please remember, I only follow my heart and convictions and remain very consistent in my viewpoints. Ultimately, my intentions are to be helpful in the greater scheme of things. Those who are so easily offended shouldn't control the words of others. Are the Kennedy's that evil? No, I was not trying to condemn the Mods here, but certainly, people's actions speak volumes. Continuing to lock threads while I am trying to express concerns of what I perceive to be of major importance is not conducive to civil debate. I don't think I publicly castigated anyone in the process, however. I just illuminated a bias, that's all!

Thanks, but not to worry! I may not be too keen with that photo or certain other terms, but I can handle it... I only tendered the concept of "tard" as being offensive to me as an example that everyone has issues with one thing or another and that we shouldn't be ruled by the opinions of a few!
Censoring Maxx's post would tick me off, though, especially in the context of this thread...

 

I have to say that I don't very much care for the picture, either. I had a cousin who was mentally retarded, same age as me, who died a few years ago.

That and I work at a Mental Health/Mental Retardation agency for the County. I don't really appreciate the picture, but people are entitled to their freedom of speech I suppose. Mean spirited or not.
