Angry This is just wrong....

Former Smoker Wins $28 Billion

I mean, everyone knows smoking can cause cancer and other diseases, even in the 50s and 60s people knew it was bad, I don't knock on those who smoke, hey, it's their problem and if they're willing to take the chance of getting ill later in life because of it, so be it, I don't mind.
This shouldn't even be allowed to go to court, in fact, they should put this kind of people in jail or charge them a fine for being such an ******** and wasting other peoples money and time.
"the big bad tobacco companies made me start smoking, I didn't want to but they brainwashed me and it's their fault that I got cancer..."boohoo . I'm not saying I'm glad she got cancer or something like that, but come on, don't try to blame others for your stupidity. I'm 19, most of my friends smoke, I don't...well,sometimes when I go out at night Ill have one cigarrette, but it's like once a month or less. And if I do get lung cancer from that I'm not going to go out and blame the company that makes the damn cigarrets, it's not like they put a gun to my head and made me do it.

this kind of stuff makes me so mad....grrr....sorry about that people, I just needed to ge that off my chest.

I don't even live in the US and it pisses me off so much, if you went to a court here in my country with that claim they would probably laugh at you, but then again here we don't have that "sue everyone" problem you guys got there.

Arrow Wrong Answer!

Lawsuits of this nature increasingly involve ridiculous settlements, insofar as money is concerned.

Aside from that, lest all you "Republicans" remember, smoking doesn't just affect the individual smoker-- You take everyone around you on the same ride; even worse sometimes since it isn't filtered like the crap sucked down by the actual smoker. And you wish to whine, in the face of the millions who have died such horrific deaths, about large punitive settlements against tobacco companies? Political jargon apologists with their "blame it on those idiotic Democrats" spiel never cease to amuse me, especially when you're dealing with issues of dire consequence that, by definition, require a mentality that goes beyond the 6th grade level.

Does anyone wish to remember that these companies are the SAME ones who lied, under oath, through their teeth, just 7 years ago about cigarette smoking NOT being harmful in any way? Does anyone wish to note how many people per year die from smoking? Anyone want to note, or better yet, experience how that dying process feels? I thought not.

Frivolous lawsuits, the bulk of which I indeed am angered by and strongly against, are pushed all too often these days. That said, I'll not jump around and complain about corrupt companies who receive their just deserves-- Companies that earn their entire fortunes through the addiction and deaths of others. It is shameful to suggest we should feel sorry for tobacco companies-- in any way.

Initial choices by smokers are (moronically) made on their own, but as soon as addiction sets in, often times the person no longer has control over their actions, even if they understand the consequences of smoking.

And how long will the winning parties be able to enjoy the money they've won from these companies, anyway? Surprise! They'll be dead in short order and never see the bulk of that money, if any.

I find it extreamly interesting that someone can sue a company for producing a harmful product when there is a govenment organization thats very purpose is to stop harmeful product. How is it the smokers can sue the Tobacco industry when the FDA has to appove there products for consumption. Also if someone wins shouldn't that mean the product is deadly and thus unlawful to sell?

ALso although I am a strong conservative I can hardly blaim a leagal descission on democrates being that it is a Judges decision based on legislation and not legislation itself. If anything blaim the Judge's view of the law.

Did anyone here that new lawsuit where the mom sued the doctor for letting her son being born? She said if she had known about his condition, she would of had a abortion. The thing is it was a rare condition, like 6 in the world and it happened 23 years ago. The think that makes me made is that fact that she won 2.2 million dollars. Man I hate stupid people

Now I know that these cases are a crock of poo..but honestly who the HELL hired/voted the judges that let that get into court...I would think that they are bored or something execpt there is crap like that being throwin into our juducial system every damn day! U can even watch Judge Judy duke it out on TV! Im not even going to say what is this world comming to b/c I know where it is going and I can tell you right now..I am NOT going with it!
Did you ever read the medical report from that case. That women had some severear burns. Basicly no human could have possibly consumed a beverage that hot. It actualy was abnormaly hot. However was a lawsuit of that caliber warrented, Hell no!

Either way as far a s judges go the worst was in Massachussettes when a judge sided with a transvesdite child molester and let the Piece of **** go, he was on trail for kid napping and sexual assult. SHe also scolded the child and the parents. How this bitch hasn't gotton a bullit in the head yet I can't tell.
