The Lancer Evolution is coming to america in a matter of days.... Labeled only as the Evolution.... though it is the EVO8 model.... word has it its only a 5speed (not 6 like the jspec version), yet still has 271hp, intercooler sprayer, and various other nicetys.... 26k...

hmm... well alot of the guys that have imported them have payed about 35k.... with alot of nice mods done to them while legalization was done....

they do have to keep the cost down, adding all that extra gizmos you're looking at near $40k, not to mention the HASSLE of maintaining these high-tech equipments.

I think EVO is going to be a lot more expensive then 26K+. If WRX tops out at about 30K loaded with everything possible, and have about 50 Bhp less then EVO, Mitsu engineers would have to be pretty damn good designing a car this cheap. We know that WRX STi is on its way here, and EVO its direct opponent. I would say that the price could very well reach into the 40K+ range.

 

maybe they'll come with a LanEvo on Steroids edition, with all the extra stuff, and only sells like 1000 a year or something like that.

I guess that could work, since they already have all the parts available, won't cost them too much in development.

 

the new motor trend that's not out yet (don't ask how i have it) says it will be right at $28K base. 271HP, 5spd and as The Man said it doesn't have any of the computer controlled goodies. Supossedly the STi will be a similar cost and the WRX base will go down a little...we'll see....

 

I agree with theMAN 100%, it's no for everyone and that's what makes it special.

but hey, the evolution is the real deal with the recaros even! so us does get alot of things... only real downfalls is maybe MAYBE no AYC, but no one knows for sure, and the 5 speed... big ****** woop... its an Evolution, and its a start for america! atleast we'll ahve it

 

$28k base price seems about right I guess without seeing what the standard options are. They are amazing cars, not something I'd be interested in, but amazing none the less.

 

yea, there are even m3 owners converting... thats sure shows how remarkable of a performance car these are..... as long as they stay japanese made, they'll be rock solid, unlike alot of mitsu cars we have in america!
