ok, ok, very funny. you guys know what i meant
a decent lawyer will be able to remove a ticket from his record.
i would recommend that you just get a lawyer and let him/her do everything for you. some of them have no points quarantee or you don't pay them (if they can't remove the ticket). check your local yellow pages for one of those money suckers

You can also do a web search for information.
Truth is, you do not NEED a lawyer -IF you go into court prepared to argue your case in a proper and professional manner, you CAN win it yourself.
There are tons of websites dedicated to beating tickets. They cover everything - from what to say and how to say it, all the way down to what to wear.
Remember - in court, being the defendant, you have as much of a right to question police and argue your case as a lawyer does. You can ask the same questions, and you should expect the same answers. Questioning the officer's training is a common tactic (asking for PROOF that he is properly trained in the use of radar guns, AND trained to use THAT particular gun with which he got you) as well as the maintenance record of the radar unit used. Do you really think a cop is going to come into court with the serial number and maintenance record of the unit he used to nab you? Doubtful. And it can work.
Luckily, I've never had to use any of these methods - my last speeder was quite a while ago, and the cop didn't show in court (3 f-king times!) so they FINALLY dismissed the damn thing. But you CAN do it, and save yourself a few hundred bucks you'd spend on a lawyer.
Either way, lawyer or no lawyer, don't cave in - fight that ****!

new law
well i dont know about all you in the other states but in MO and in some others they are passing that new law crap. They dont have to have lights on, they dont have to be in a cop car they can be in ANY car on duty, trust me i got pulled over by a ford f150 with deck lights, and boy we was playing road race cause i didnt know he was a cop, 700 bucks later yeah i learned. they can be in anything doesnt matter. They can even do dummy traps, where there can be a car on the side of the road that looks broke down and have a radar gun sending a signal to cop car up the street and then get you. I know because my buddy is a sherrif and "bounty-hunter" and my other buddy is a police officer. i keep my lawyer in business lets say. sucks dont it. well NOS is on order and so is that turbo when they release it. RIDE IT HARD.

yes, very true. i just tried to show that if you get a lawyer you don't have to go to court. so you don't have to miss work or school. also here lawyers charge anywhere from $60 to $100.

Damn - minimum I've seen for a decent lawyer helping with a ticket is $300 - with no guarantee the ticket will disappear. Round here, fact is that if you go in to court and talk to the DA, you can get the ticket knocked down without a lawyer - I've had two like that already - they made it a "disobeyed traffic device" instead of speeding - no license points for those, but the second one does cost me some bux on insurance.
And FYI - in New York, it is a new law (2 yrs old maybe) that State Troopers CANNOT be in unmarked cars. They can sit with the lights off or whatever, and now they frequently use cars with no lights on the roof, but the car MUST be a State Trooper car, with all the markings that a normal cruiser has.
They did this thinking it'll prevent certain people from running from cops - there were a few cases of people (especially women) panicking because they really couldn't KNOW it was a cop. This is supposed to cut down on confusion.
County and local police are still able to use unmarked vehicles, non-police cars, etc. But at least we've got a small edge on the Troops now.
