My New Toy!

To solve my winter woes, I purchased a Kyosho Mini-Z RC car a few days ago. The Mini-Z is a 1/28th RC. This thing is TINY, and FAST. I love it! The really impressive thing about these cars are that they still have fully proportional steering and throttle control, and are about the size of a dollar bill (see pic 1).

I bought this just to rip around in my apartment a little bit, and it's nothing but fun. It takes 4 AAA batteries on the car, and they last over an hour per set. I have two sets, and a 1 hour charger, so I could in theory drive constantly. The controller is a pistol type controller, and takes 8 AA batteries (I also have rechargable).

The price is pretty steep, but not for the ammount of fun you can have. You can find them on Ebay for around $100, and you're good to go. I also got the one hour quick charger and two sets of AAAs for $50 from walmart. The mini-zs can be fully modded with everything from engines to suspension parts (yes, it has a working suspension!) and even rims and tires. These things are amazing!

Here's some pics of my blue Skyline (There are many different bodies avaliable)... Such a sweet car!

That is sweet! About how fast (outside of your bedroom) does it go? Also did you get NiMH rechargable batteries? If not, do so..they'll last MUCH longer. NEXcell, MAHA, or Panasonic are good brands, if you need more info let me know.

Yea, I got some nimh batteries. I bought them when I got my charger. They're 700mah, which is good, so I got them. I haven't gotten it to go as fast as is can go yet, but apparently it will go about 13 MPH. That's pretty freaking fast for scale speed. It also comes with a few different size pinion gears, so it could go even faster yet. I'm going to have to take it outside sometime, or possibly one of the buildings up here at school to see how fast it really goes. It's a fun toy : )
