Need help deciding on new car

WRX....wagon!
Why lose the "sporty" life just because you have kiddies? Get the WRX wagon and you'll have everything BUT. Great handling, a reliable turbo, easily upgradeable and after all, soccer mom's dig it. (That line is copywritten btw...so no jackers thanx.)

Here's my .02:
WRX--and I agree w/JDM, the wagon might even be better...having driven all types of small cars and raising a family over the years I can tell you from experience that having a compact car is not all that bad! Of course it helps that my wife and daughters never made it past 5'-1".
It's been rare that I ever wished for something bigger. Faster, yes, but not bigger.
Jeeps, eh, I have no use....I like the corners way too much. I'd be on my head in a week or less, guaranteed.

If you can afford a wrx go for it. But remimber if the wife goes to work and daycare comes into play that stuff isn't cheap. Figure on adding at least 300 extra a month just for the kid, then add the daycare. Here in Austin a new born on up to about 2yrs old runs anywhere from 6-1000 a month! All depends on what kind of standards you have. So WRX payments and baby can hurt the common man. Otherwise YES to the WRX.

We will probably be putting a huge down payment on which ever we buy. The wife was expecting to $30k for the Jeep. I already own a Wrangler but I have a feeling the tranny won't last more than 3 years. So I plan on selling the Jeep hopefuly getting $3-3,500 for it and whatever we can get on her Neon. Plus there's money that we put aside and save. I expect to have about $5k for a down payment. The only thing that I can't stand with my Jeep is the lack of power. 130HP engine that has to push 30" tires that it's not geared for really sucks the power away. But they do come in a 6 cylinder engine rated at a 190HP and guys claim that they don't feel a power loss until they throw 33" tires on without re-gearing. The Jeep gives you the feeling of you can go everywhere and do anything type of feeling. I mean when I was down senior week we had a bond fire going. When it got low we tied a chain to a dead tree stump and ripped it out with the Jeep. Not that the WRX wouldn't have the power, it just lacks the versatility of a Jeep.

I used to have a video clip of a guy that was trying to pull his buddy's car out of the snow. Well the idot hooked up to the axle and not the frame. He pulled the whole rear off the car.
