New diet/excersize plan in effect
I've been working out with some MMA friends once or twice a week for a few months now. My diet has been pretty unsuccessful because I'm not sticking to it well. That all changed this week as I've committed myself to training 5 days a week to get back in shape.
Today I jogged 2 miles, swan about 25 laps and worked 1.5hours on the weight machines.
I'm trying to get back down to about 215-225lbs. I'd like to fight in light heavyweight but don't think I can be competitive at 205lbs. I've been working with some good BJJ guys at the gym who I think are going to be able to elevate my game beyond where it's ever been. Once I cut another 20-25lbs I'll get back into gi and continue my american kickboxing training. I've taken it for 11years but lost most of my flexibility.
I've decided to turn my physical fitness around and put myself to the test in some local MMA fights around the middle of next year. I'd like a solid 6 months of training before taking my first fight in 10 years.
Wish me luck. I may even post my B&A pictures on the site to chronicle my progress as I return to martial arts. A little embarrassing at first but as I start packing on the muscle it'll be nice.

best of luck to you rod. sounds like your stickin to your guns here. i need to start exercising again. about 15-20 pounds heavier than id like to be. got a punching bag to throw around and a weight set. hardest thing for me is motivation. im alot more motivated when i have a workout partner myself. kinda hard to have the g/f spot me on the bench when she cant lift what i put up...which isnt a whole lot as of right now lol. def post up some before and after pics. i know you says your a bigger guy...but because of that damn peter griffin avatar you had thats how i picture you...lmao. dont know why but i do. maybe if i ever get back into the swing of things ill post up pics.

hahaha, I consider myself more of the Jason Vorhees body type than Peter Griffin but thanks for the vote of confidence!
I'm 6'3" 275 and I'd like to get down to 215-225 and very lean. I would probably be able to get down to 195 if I pushed it but I'd probably not have any strength. At 215+ I'd be more comfortable.

at 6'3", 190 is still spreading the muscle mass a little thin. an extra 30 lbs of muscle sounds good (like i'm a doctor or anything...)...sheez, if i was 30 lbs of muscle heavier it'd be nice. at 6'5" and 170 (thanks art center! muscle atrophy!), i think i have what they call a telephone pole build...it's not really that cool. i think i can lift foamcore...

I work with a guy who is 6'5" 170 and that's just about as thin as you can get on that size frame.
If I put on 30lbs of muscle I'd be a walking flex. I want to lean down as much as possible. If any of you have met me in person you'd know I've got a real big frame. I have a 46" chest, 74" reach and when I lose the weight I'll probably be down to a 32-34 waist.
