The new Saturn Ion

I'm sure somebody will buy this car, but check out the instrument cluster. I think reading your speed would be a little difficult.

I'm also not sold out the styling.

It's "aight" I guess. It's definitely a Saturn

The instrument cluster thing looks right out of the Toyota Prius. Same central design.

Anyone seen the Saturn that'll have removeable/replaceable a-pillars and stuff? You get to make your own color combination for the exterior with 'em - what'll they think of next?

I would so agree with you, but more and more manufacturers are doing it, and are claiming that you are more safer by having the console in the center, because you are paying more attention to the road. The Prowler had it, the new Mini has it, and I believe some Panoz's have it too. I bet it is a weird first time experience, but eventually you might get used to it.

Aren't the gauges in the center on the Echo too?

But the Mini puts a tach front and center on the steering wheel. Which is sweet. Screw the speedometer. I never look at the thing anyway (unless I want to know just how much I'm breaking the speed limit by).

To the topic.... Another Saturn for women and wuss drivers. I would laugh at a person who bragged about owning one of the damn things. Look at my dent resistant door panels!

The interior looks awful, the center of the steering wheel is like 12" or something like that, it looks like a big cushion thingie.

Ooops - I think I meant the Echo - not the Prius - unless the Prius also has the center gauges.

Hey whatever - but I wish more manufacturers would use the poly panels. They really do work well, and save weight. A lot of older Saturn's still look really good because of them.

And they might be wimpy, but I DO like the SC 3 door coupe. The styling is decent on that car, and with a set of nicer rims and tires, they can look downright sporty (even if they aren't). And I am a fan of the rear-suicide-little door thing. Obviously Mazda is too: *cough*ahem* RX-8 *cough*.

Man, that is one fugly looking car!! It kind of reminds me of Lego. LOL
Makes me wonder who is doing the hiring for General Motors design department. Maybe they are trying to sink the company.

it may not be the best looking new car available, but it sure has the new cavalier beat.

and as for the center instrument cluster, it makes for a cheaper transition to right hand drive markets, without having the need for a completely new dash board design.

It sure does beat most of GMAC's products but it still is bad. That instrument cluster is just plain awful.

For some reason GM can never get their steering wheel design right. Both the ION and the Cav have the ugliest steering wheel I've ever seen.
