No!!!!! Someone Keyed My New Car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't %!#%!# believe this! I go into the grocery store for 2 mins to get milk and bread... I come out and someone keyed the entire right side of my car including the front corner panel, both doors and the back corner panel. The scratches are really deep and they did an unbelievable job!!!!
DAMN!... Now my brand new car that has less tha 300KM on it will require the entire right side to be repainted. Some people are just so damn ignorant.
So now... I have a few questions.. When I get the entire right side repainted, how good of a job do body shops do compared to that of the manufacturers? I'm assuming they still put on a clear coat like the rest of the car? I'm really concerned about this now because I had every intention of keeping this car's paint in immaculate condition and now I just don't know...
Has anyone ever heard of http://www.colorworks.ca. Apparently, they can fix up these kinds of things without having to repaint the entire panel... I'd love to get some feedback from anyone who is familiar with this place.

P.S - Anyone know of a really good body shop in the Toronto area?

Damn kids have too much time on their hands at this time of year and do disgusting stuff like this. Where in TO was this? Seems to be a big problem in Toronto area these days (I'm in Markham). Anyways, to get to the point.... my wife had her P5 for only 3 days when she lightly grazed a concrete pole at work...caught both the bumper and the body.... on a car a few years old I would have left it , but of course the car was brand new... so I went to my favorite body shop, Woodbine Auto Body on Alden Road in Markham. You truly cannot tell where there was any damage... the red paint matches perfectly also... and I'm picky...they do great work.... Gus is the guy to see there. I'll warn you it will not be cheap to fix that extensive damage.... but I assume it will be an insurance job...

It'll definitely be an insurance job... I had some work done years ago on my old vehicle at 427 Auto Collision Center... I'm at HWY 427 and Burnhamthorpe area...
My car is silver so I don't think it'll be too hard for them to match it up. I wonder if any body shop would be willing to pay for my $300 deductible
Nonetheless, I'm just really upset because now it's no longer the manufacturer's original paint and I just hope that should I sell this car years from now that they won't tell it was painted.

A few more points:
Clearoat was added back on as part of the repair. Any reputable shop does that. I think the paint and clearcoat are baked on in a few stages.
I think there is no shortcut to painting the entire panels. They insited on doing that for my wife's car although the damaged area was only about 1" X 1"... but I cannot tell how far they went as the repair was that perfect... the car looks like when we took delivery.
By the way, I have no relationship with that shop or anyone there, other than I went there a few times for body work on 2 cars over the last few years, and have always been totally satisfied (and I'm hard to please).
So there is hope for your car... although I'm sure it's stressful and upsetting to say the least to have that kind of disgusting stuff happen...

Thanks for the info... only problem is the place is a bit out of my way so I think I'll check out 427 Auto Collision... They did a great job a few years back for me so I have no reason to believe they can't do it again...
What a pain in the royal ***... I just want to make sure they do the right job so I can use all my nice Meguiar products lol

Same exact thing happened to me when I had 4,500 miles. It was an insurance job. Total cost to repaint the passenger side was $1,107 US. They did a perfect job; you can't tell it ever happened. It just sucks I had to pay the deductible.

I feel your pain competely! Someone keyed my driverside door, entirely up and down. They just zig zagged from top to bottom like 8 or 9 times, leaving deep a** groves and sh*t in my car. If i ever find who did it to me i will beat them down, and then have them refund me the cost of repaintiing it. Then get this, two weeks after that happens, some old f*cker banged his door right into the back door on the right side of the car. Then tried to tell me it wasn't him, when i confronted him and i'm like hey geezer, your paint is still on my car how can it not be yours. Some people are just so inconsiderate and jealous at times.

yeah my parents rav4 has 4 HUGE dents from dumb *** ppl hitting the door in a parking lot and someone punched the front fender panel and made a huge dent, now the car looks like ****. either way you lose money if your going to fix it. if i catch or see another ******* doing that to any of my cars i won't hesitate to beat the living **** out of him or run him over.

A while back a friend of mine came outside of the movies, and someone literally keyed his whole car, we are talking spending 20 mins on this! Luckily it wasn't deep, and it gave him a reason to get his new paint job

Everyone has stories, but he is really looking for advice on how/ where to fix the damage.
I looked at the colorworks site, and from what I read I would certainly not try them on a brand new car. Anything that is sprayed on from a mobile van can not be the same as a 2 stage baked on finish applied at a good body shop, which will, if properly done, make the finish 'as new' again!

I agree with frankd
The come to you services are great for detailing and stuff like that but Sokaku and I are a poor team of bastards, so we dont have experience with that.
But we do work with a reputable body shop from time to time in northern Va, and we have seen both jobs, the van and the in shop work.
lets just say the shop is the place to get it done.... a dog or soemthing came up to sniff the spot and smuged it and the company said it was fine when they left.
Needless to say my friends body shop glady took the job of correcting this messup but charged the guy for the full amaount.
ah what ya gonna do ?

I have decided to get it done at 427 Auto Collision. They were given a prestigious award as the #1 body shop in North America in 2001. So I figure I can't really go wrong there....

Colorworks
When i had my civic, i had to hit and runs that caused both left side bumper corners to be scratched pretty bad. Now colorworks, they do an AWESOME job, they buff out the area and match the color perfectly. I couldn't even tell where the dmg was and the feel was perfect. They came to my work place and did the paint job from their Van in my underground parking area.
Now the thing is, Colorworks usually only does these kind of jobs for Car manufacturers and Rental companies and don't do individuals. Here in Vancouver, i was very fortunate, and the manager said he would make me an exception.
I would definately call and just say that a friend refered you and hopefully they can do u're car. They are open to offers too and they don't charge very high, but the work is awesome.
