Well, my buddy was just given a 2002 RSX (fugly pewter color, with gold emblems and stuff, but he likes it. It's got the leather, the aluminum wheels, and a 5 speed.) Well, he got smashed at this one party he was at. (He had arranged to stay the night so no one drove drunk.) Well, this one guy thought it would be funny if he took my friend's car for a rip. Keep in mind, the car had about 1500 Kms on it at the time. Only about 2 weeks old. So, this guy snatched the keys while my buddy was passed out. He was baggin along at near top speed in 5th gear, and went to downshift to fourth, and needless to say hit second. He pegged the engine at like 12,500 RPM (the Acura technician said) and dropped a valve. After he stopped the car, he jumped on his cell and got another friend to hook it up to his car and tow it back to where it was parked. He slid the keys back without my friend knowing a thing. Needless to say, my friend went to start it the next morning, and no go. He called roadside assistance, and they sent it in for service. 2 days later he was informed by Acura what had happened. 2 days after that, his (ex) friend confessed, and had to buy him a new engine. Acura ate half the cost (being the nice Japs they are!) so the guy responsible only had to dish out someting like $6,000. (The block was not able to be reused.)

He's got about 3000 Kms on the new engine now, but his second gear is damn near unuseable because of the constant grinding... To make matters worse, he was backed into about a week ago, and the bumper pushed in. He's got a sweet system though. 2 Alpine Type-R 12"s, a JL 500/1 Monoblock Amp, PG Cap, and a Pioneer Premier deck.

Although it's not a Mazda, I feel so sorry for it, and for him...

tell him to eat the trade-in hit and get a new car that's NOT been abused!!!!!

 

he can't get the guy to pay for that too? That's just awful though

 

poor guy...god if somebody did that to me i would have kicked his *** then take him to court!!!!

 

I do not call that a friend...more of an enemy now. No friend of mine would steal my car, rip the crap out of it and then tried to dupe me into thinking that no one touched my car. Even though he confessed, I believe that he should bring his acquaintenance to court and try to get a new car, because that car will never be the same. He probably shot the clutch to hell also...he needs to replace the tranny and put in new plates.

I think most of what was damaged was replaced. (Clutch included.) The car never will be the same, that's true, but these two were real good buds before the incident. I think that's the only thing stopping my friend from taking his bitch *** to court!

That is unexplainable, unethical, and most of all unforgivable, oh wait i forgot STUPID, lesson here don't steal a friends car while drunk and kill the damn thing.

Sorry to be viscious, but it does not matter how long a person is my friend, there is a certain boundry that should not be passed...top two on my list:

1)My Car
2)My Woman
3)etc....

The dealership needs to change the transmission. from the way that he was driving the RSX...he probably also fried or almost fried the tranny...

I wouldn't stand that from a family let alone a friend. He would be no friend of mine. He would be oweing me and then some. That just isn't right at all

 

I would have F*$%^@ him up. But first sued his a$$, 'friend' or no 'friend'. They come and go and I hope he goes. I feel for 'em.
