If you park in a parking spot lets say the the grocery store and your car happens to be towed away if you had your car in first then you engine is now F^cked. Reason is that most people leave their cars in first and when they tow it the jack@$$ tow guy always tows it with the rear wheels off the ground. well what ends up happening is that your drive wheels rotate the wrong direction and this is turn makes your engine spin backwards. By the time you get your car back you will notice a little performance degradation. "your car wont start" From then on you will be like fred. "use your feet"

Just something to think about.

this is NOT likely....for starters....if a tow truck driver gets a front wheel drive car he will lift the front....and IF they do and the E-brake is on....they then just lift the back and set the car on the dolly that all fully equipted tow trucks will have....then they roll your ride off....OR they can pull the whole car up onto a flatbed tow vehicle....

believe me....dragging your car with it in gear, with the drive wheels on the ground is NOT an option for the tow truck driver....and if you believe it is...and you want to ensure that can't happen with your front wheel drive car....ALWAYS turn your wheels to one of the locks before turning it off...then when your steering column locks the wheels are turned...and IF a tow truck driver even TRIED to tow your car...it would only go in a very small circle anyway...and not very far....not to mention if there was anyone on either side of you they couldn't get your car out of the space without ramming into the other car....then they have a whole nother problem.

I know what your saying and I agree with you but it is likely because I have seen it happen. My buddy had a 97 civic ex and was parked in downtown and got towed. he didnt have his wheels turned to lock and the tow truck guy just towed it from the rear since his emergency brake was on. Now mind you he got a new engine but still the hastle of going through their insurance was crazy. All Im saying is you need to make sure you take precautions. "like turning you wheels to lock and always using the emergency brake"

Hand-brake on..
Thank you. It's not an emergency brake! trust me on this if your in an emergency and you pull up the "emergency brake" you'r going to end up in the emergency room.
let's say all together now Hand brake.
Or if you parking brake.

I disagree, I had my brakes fail on me once due to a master cylinder failure on my ford escort. Your "parking brake" saved me from rolling in front of a truck.

Emergancy brake. Although I will accept Hand Brake.
