Pits on the windshield

Anybody know any magic methods to fill in the tiny pits that you get on your windshield from blowing sand, small rocks, etc?

I've got a couple really small ones that you hardly notice unless the sun hits them right, but I know they're there and thus it bugs the **** outta me and will continue to do so untill I do something about it...

Yep...not sure how good it is though as I've never used it.

actually...that might be too much for the pits you're talking about. Other than that though, I have the same pits and I don't know of anything that can help

Hmmm.. You're right - I think that stuff would be more usefull for deeper holes than what I'm talking about.

My windshiled is ALL phucked up. 25,000 miles on my P5, and the windshield is speckled pretty badly already.

I'm going to see what I can do when my warranty gets close to running out - I really think the glass is kinda shitty, and maybe if I give someone enough ****, I can worm my way into getting it replaced.

If not, I will just have to have it done on my wallet - but I won't go OEM glass - I want something a little more durable, because the OEM seems like it sucks. One of my VERY few complaints about the car.

Hi Ho....I would look into this very carefully when you decide to get it replaced....I just had mine done a while back....hit a buzzard, you may have read that thread...ANYWAY...I went top shelf with the replacement..as far as who I had do it....I know the guys at the shop fairly well....they came to my house to do the job....we talked quite a bit while he was doing the job....he replaced mine with an OEM windshield...and he told me that nearly all the aftermarket windshields are nowhere near as good as the OEM ones....sure they meet the DOT spec's...but the OEM ones typically go way beyond.....the windshield he got for me and installed was made by PPG....and if you know much at all about automotive glass....you will know they have been around for a long time...and doing quality work.

My uncle for a Windshield repair Co. he says that they have something that they put on the nicks that kinda sucks them out of the glass. Not cheap tho.

So that's what you meant by OEM - brands of glass used by the automotive industry, not necessarliy the Carlex the Proteges come with from the factory. I'd only consider that as a replacement anyway.

That's precisely what I meant by "not using OEM" glass - maybe I got my terminology a little screwed up, but I meant that I'd replace it with better quality glass.

I think we're all on the same page anyway....

If it's bad enough (and you have glass coverage) your insurance may pay for a new windsheild. My insurance had paid for a couple new ones in my tour. I beleive they can consider it a safety risk because of the sight issues and the fact that your airbag uses it.

Hmm.. No.. It's definitely not bad enough to warrant going to the insurance over it... Plus i don't have it covered under insurance. I'm just a picky bastard and hate seeing those couple of little pits whenever the light hits it right.

I know they're too big for rainx to fill in (that stuff is the bomb, btw) but they're waaaay too small to use the rock chip system to fill it in. Is there no such thing as liquid glass?!

technically hiho...you were correct....most people when they use the term OEM they are talking about what came stock on THEIR car....

and if you go out and price a new QUALITY windshield....you will find they aren't cheap!! about $300 installed if its all coming out of YOUR pocket.

OEM: Original Equipment Manufacturer.

What else could it possibly mean? In refrence to the windshield I would take OEM to mean the same brand/type of windshield that came installed on the car stock.

Maybe I am confused?
