So this is how I see it.... I love the honda civic. in all its incarnations and even the honda CRV which is built on the same platform they build the civic.

See the civics are the guys who evolved after the die down of the american muscle car in the 80's when the porche and others were soo popular.

(american sportscars are far from dead but play along okay ?)

Then in the late 80's we realized that the european cars were to expensive and had some major flaws, and decided we needed a new hero. Toyota gave us an answer... the MR2. The boxy rearwheel drive monsters are still a force to be reconed with. They were doing production turbos and the cars were so light and fast honda saw the opritunity and ran with it. Japanese work ethics and management styles were all the rage in the late 80's so why not their cars ?

(if you dont belive me go watch gung ho - the mothion picture, oh and they made a tv series based on that show, lasted 1 season.)

Honda said "Screw this, we can make a cool car and take over !" and so the statue of liberty was coverd in sand on a beach where you could have looked at new york city from.

OH by the way the statue of liberty is not in new york. not in the city, not in the state even. LOL.

So the apes came down from the trees and started their evolution to their highest state (honda B16) and then one day.... a traveler from the past (mazda protege) showed up.

AND THEY WERE AFRAID !

They saw it as somehting they didnt know about. sure the hondas seemed stronger and had third party production to keep them ahead of the game, but with only one person playing (honda) you cant actually win.

And now.... we as protege owners, lovers, brothers of guys with proteges, and true belivers as stan lee would say, are here in the future and we cant go back.

We have been noticed ! Honda/Acura (gorilla/chimpanze) have seen our style and know it is a threat to their almost total domination of a market.

Are we to let them continue in their ignorance ? NO !, I say NO !

Mazda has done right by us by giving us something to really be proud of and a bodystyle that has excited and invigorated thousands of protege owners into searching the internet and checking their locale sport compact shops for new protege parts !

weither you would like to go turbo (4K investment) or run yourself N/A, you have a responsibility to make a good showing for the rest of us. Now I am not refering to illegal street races, and trying to be fast and furious, because thats just dumb. Oh and they can take your liscence away.... forever.

I just ask that if you see some guy in a 94 civic dx with a gigantic downforce aluminum spoiler, altezza tails, and a cannon bigger than his own ego, dont let him think he or she (cuz i saw you out there you hot sexy girl in that baby blue '96 ex with your noisy blow off valve) go on thinking thet honda is the only option open to them.

Dont race !

Just let them see what mazde made and you improoved on and let them decide for themselves if they still belive in the absolute domination of the honda/acura family. OK ?

i think you really should take more water with all that tea...

but the story doesn't make any sense to me- maybe it's because i'm not familiar with the usa scene as i am european myself... dunno.

 

You guys get performance and power and slighly higher octane fuels. I personally wouldnt mind doing an autocross from germany to spain.... the driving must be incredible.


Here there seems to be an opinion of honda superiority. As well as an opinion that I have yet to fully grasp the concept of proper spelling and grammer.

Although we as the Mazda 4 cylinder road warriors may not be the most popular we are growing.

 

I appreciate the story and the concept, as I am the only one in reno to represent Mazda. Im glad shares my opinion even if its in around about way.
