the pope is gone

im not much of a catholic, but i respected the pope and what he believed in.
he was like a grandfather to the whole world.

it happened 9:37pm in rome, 1:37 pm here
i never got to see the pope person to person

lets hope the next pope doesn't fk up our world
and ruin what John Paul 2 has accomplished

Good riddance.
The only thing he accomplished was to forgive a bunch of pedophile priests.

no respect for him?

it was actually more then "homo" preists and childeren.
he showed no hate to jewish (basically pissing off alot of catholics)
this man is more to respect than any other.

im not a political religion debating type person, but what i was just saying is

i respeced the man for what he did, what he believed, and what it reflected on alot of people

ah, this is nothing to fight about.

AMEN! Forgiving those priests is commanded by God. I do however thing they should have been banned from priesthood but never the less forgivness does not mean without punisment.I think limiting him to that is foolish. He did far greater good to be judged by what he did as an old man.

what they did was gross as hell

Well, I wouldn't have put quite so nicely as Midightblue did, but I pretty much agree with him.
First, I want to make sure you all understand that this is really my own opinion and respect anyone's who differs, but since this thread was started here's my .02. Also, anyone who thinks I do not speak from experience, I have 12 years of Catholic school under my belt, was an altar boy for several years (unmolested) and studied religious history throughout college...

The Catholic Church is one of the most corrupt institutions in the world, from selling spots in heaven to peasants in the Middle Ages to influencing politics (where they have no business getting involved) to the American church covertly moving pedophiles from one parish to another instead of turning them in to law enforcement officers.
And anyone who thinks the Crusades was a justifiable "Holy War" and not ethnic cleansing backed in full by the Pope should go back a re-read their history books.
Not to mention past Popes who flaunted mistresses in direct violation of their sacred vows.

Lol, I'd write more if I didn't think I'd bore you all to tears.

I'm sorry, but what did all of that have to do with John Paul II?

I was responding to the initial post and the comments made below. Like I said, I have a great deal of respect for everyone on this forum, and I'm not looking for a flame war, honestly. I said it was my own opinion.
Since John Paul II was, as Pope, the leader of the Catholic church, and this thread was about his death, I feel my comment was relevant. I don't feel any worse about his death than I would for any world leader with whose actions and policies I disagree.
