Projekt Revolution Tour, State College 4/9/2003 (Long)
Last night I went to watch the Project Revolution tour, which included Blindside, Xzibit, Mudvayne, and of course Linkin Park. What a fantastic show! My roomate and I showed up around 6:15, the show was supposed to start at 7:30. We got our tickets (floor, of course ), and he had two extra tickets we needed to get rid of because his friends backed out at the last minute.
So we stood outside until about 7 trying to get rid of these tickets. Unfortunately for us (and the bands) the show wasn't sold out, so we were freezing our asses off. I didn't wear my coat because I didn't want to have to worry about it once we were inside, but I was freezing my *** off outside.
We finally get in, and Blindside has already started, totally weak! We finally got down to the floor, we only missed one song I think. Blindside was really good, I felt bad because most of the crowd wasn't really into it yet. They didn't get as many cheers as they deserved, I was one of the few asses WOOOing for them, but they were really good, I liked their music alot.
In between acts they had a DJ and a few MCs (not on the stage) who were really good, but no one was paying much attention to them sadly. The DJ was excellent, it was the first time I've ever heard a good DJ perform, apparently he won some national DJ championship or something, he was DJ Rocky Roc, he was good for sure. The one MC was really good, I don't remember his name There was also an awesome B-Boy guy there, I think his name was urban warfare or something, he was freaking good!
Anyway, Xzibit was the next to perform, he was EXCELLENT! The tour mixed the perfect ammount of metal/rap, the whole basis of Linkin Park. X to the Z () brought out some underground guy from the west coast, I think he was a white guy. He was pretty good. Xzibit really kicked the show off, though.
After Xzibit left, Mudvayne came out. I've only heard a couple of their songs, before mainly Fallen (their new single). I think a lot of people were there to see them, that's when the pit started getting active. I honestly don't really like the speed/death metal thing that much, but they performed very well, and were very courteous (Imagine that? ). Each band brought up the US military forces fighting the war and keeping us safe, I thought it was a great gesture of respect. Kudos to them.
Now, the best part of the show, Linkin Park. I know there are some people who really don't like them, but even if you don't I still think you would have really enjoyed the show they put on. They were very interactive with the crowd, Chester and Mike were always walking up the catwalks getting closer to the people in the stands. They played about a half and half mix of Meteora and Hybrid Theory stuff, they mixed the songs up very well. At one point in the show, Mike Shinoda came through the center of the crowd (there was a fenced off area to split up the pit so security could handle everyone much easier), up to the side of the fence that I was one and was being held there by one of the tough guys as he was singing, it was freaking awesome, i was about 10 feet from him. Didn't slap my hand, I was a little bit too far away. It was freaking intense. A girl in front of my passed out because she was screaming so bad when he came up. Chester was doing the same thing up in the front of the stage, but I wasn't near close enough for that. They came out for their encore and played three more songs, ending it with One Step Closer.
I was never at a better concert, LP put on such a fabulous show, I'll definately never forget it! If you have the chance of seeing them, I'd definately try and make it out, it was such a blast!

agreed. i saw them last month in minneapolis as part of the lp underground tour. it was lp and blindside. i kinda liked blindside, they were good. but linkin park is definetly awesome live. they are really interactive with the crowd. the day i was there, it was joe's(mr. hahn's) b-day. that was fun because we all sang happy birthday to him. i might possibly go to rapid city, sd on the 26th to see them at the projekt revolution tour. since i am a member of lp underground, i have the chance to meet them. now that would be awesome.
