Heh yeah, that's not a big deal at all to fix. **** the first thing I did when i put my Cobra in was cut the cig plug-in off. I split the wires, ran the black one to ground, and tapped the black with white stripe wire to my 12 volt supply that I'm using for part of my stereo. Much cleaner looking that way, no unsightly wires coming out of your cigarette lighter. Solder it back together, butt connect it back together, or just do what I did.

the problem is the wire broke directly below the plug so its gonna be a bitch to work on, but i ofund a site that has the wire i need, so ill proably order one, the only thing that really sux, is i cant even order it till im back at school, cause my rents will **** a brick if they know i have a radar detector(ive had it 2 years) and to get to school is a 3 hour drive, so its gonna be a long boring drive for me

Why don't you goto a Radio Shack or a similar store and buy the end? On my Bel 936, the plug that goes into the detector was a standard size that I just had to find in the store.
You'll probably need a new cord to fit onto that end, but it shouldn't be more than $20.00.

Try a univeral cord...
KMart/Walmart/auto parts stores sell universal power cables for radar detectors, etc. Some of them have several small adaptor plugs to fit various device connectors. Last time I purchased one, it was probably about $14.
