Rear ended on Woodward Ave.

Well it was the day after the "Woodward Dream Cruise" and after a nice morning at the zoo we decided to head up Woodward and see how many cruiser holdouts were still hangin' around. We had to stop for a red light when after about 3 seconds.. BOOM! We were now about 30 feet futher up the road and into the intersection. I looked in the mirror and saw I room to back up out of traffic and after making sure my wife and kid were OK I got out to check on the damage. Amazingly only the bumper was trashed. No broken lenses, no damage to the hatch. This was a big Pontiac Grand Prix doing about 30-35 mph. I was stunned to see how little damage was actually done. Turns out it was some mid twentys girl from Altadana CA. in a rented avis car. Needless to say I called the cops immediately. The car's gonna need a whole new rear bumper assembly and the sheetmetal behind it needs to be pulled out slightly. I'm still shocked how well the little car handled such a crash.

it should... since airbags alone are like 1000 bux to repair/fix/replace, and since it requires a certian amount of force to make them deploy that damage should equal more than half the cars value, even though my accedent was totaled in at $14KCAD to fix , i think they shoulda just gave me a new car

also that collision looks like it was hit at a 45 degree offset from the bumper-the airbags only go off if the impact was more direct and near the center of the bumper where the sensors are. The sensors also respond to G forces so i think they are just a glorified type of accelerometer.
