Road Hazards
why the freak is everything road hazards to Mazda...when I went in there for all the damn paint chips their answer was its a road hazard sorry...go in there for my cracked fog light, their answer : it's a road hazard sorry...go in there to see if they would fix my tire because a nail was in it, their infamous answer again : it's a road hazard...and to top it off they didn't even have a tire machine...I was so pissed...because it was pouring down rain and I had to drive 45 min off the island to the dealership where I bought my P5...and thats all they could offer me...sorry to say but I really really hate Mazda...I will never buy Mazda again...and I wish I could sell my car with the f**ked up front end...sorry for all of this but my experience with Mazda has not been a good one

zu, before you write off Mazda....try this...go down to ANY other brand of car dealer and talk to their service manager...ask him if you had one of their cars and the front got chipped up by road debris (rocks), or the fog light got cracked from a ROCK....or if you ran over a nail and messed up one of your tires.....ask him if the DEALER would repair any of those FREE.....if his answer is YES...then ask him to put that in writing...and buy your next car there....
I think you will find that NO MATTER where you go the answer to all of those questions is going to be NO, that is a road hazard and its not covered.....
and as mentioned...if you can find ANY dealer that will....you better get it in writing...or you will hear the same thing when you return with your new car of the OTHER brand and request a repair......THEN you are REALLY going to be pissed.

yeah seriously, none of the conditions you mentioned are caused by MANUFACTURING DEFECTS. All of them are what we face everytime we take our car on the road.
do you think Honda will replace your tire if it got a nail in it? I don't think so
it sucks to have all these back luck on the road, but the bottom line is none of these have anything to do with an actual DEFECT of the car itself
a change of luck is in order

My windshield is shot to **** after 32,000 miles. It's as pitted as any car I've ever had, and many of my previous cars were 10+ years old, and had 150,000 miles or more on them.
So - is this road hazard, or factory defect? I'm not talking about the two little stone chips I have - this the overall sandblasting of the glass that makes driving into the sun difficult due to the "sparkle".
So - what is it? I believe that our windshields are of inferior quality, and I plan on at least trying to push the issue with Mazda before the warranty is up.
I'll probably lose the fight, but what is everyone else's take on this?

Yeah, if you go to America's Tire Co, they do a lot of stuff for free, well, at least if you purchased the tires there. I think they have a guarantee to fix some punctures, sounds like Les Schwab is similar. (I figure yours are still stock though, but they'll do rotations and other basics for free).

Next time you go driving, pay attention to how close you are to the people in front of you. THIS IS THE CAUSE OF YOUR SANDBLASTED FRONT END. I have had my P5 for 13 months and have driven 25,000 miles (HIGHWAY and CITY). I only have one or two small marks on my front end from small rocks and my windshield still looks brand new. If you take car of your car both while driving and cleaning it, it will take care of you and look good. Don't blame the dealership or Mazda just because you haven't taken care of the car and now it doesn't look brand new like you want it to. It takes a lot of work to keep a car looking new and that responsibility lies right on your shoulders.

YellowPR5...I agree with you...but trust me I don't tail gate other drivers...it's unsafe and stupid...I hate it when other drivers tailgate me therfore I don't do it...but come on now how far other then the 4 second rule do I have to drive behind someone else in order for those things not to happen?

With the way the road are in our area...I believe no matter what you do, you can not stay clear of the rocks and debris that are flying at your vehicle...Our roads suck, plain and clear...we may have to both invest into a full car bra or a magnetic bra.

Dude - try driving 25,000 miles in a non-sunshine belt state, okay?
Stop laying blame where it does not belong - your statements were kind of harsh, especially considering you don't know what you are talking about at all.
We get SNOW and we get ICE. And then they dump thousands of cubic yards of SAND on our highways - trust me, the little street sweepers don't do **** for picking that up. Drive anywhere around here, especially on a windy day, and you WILL get sandblasted, regardless of the season. Am I supposed to keep further back from the WIND?
And futhermore, the freeze/thaw cycles and road salt beat the **** out of the roads. Staying an extra 20 or 50 feet back from other cars isn't going to slow down the gumball-sized chunk of asphalt his tire kicked up from the canyon-sized pothole in the road. It cannot be avoided. Not to mention the constant road construction (usually to fix what freezing causes) that leaves tons of stones and debris - it's got nothing to do with how a person drives when the conditions are like this.
Come drive a few days up here, then go criticize, okay?
