Road-rage

Road-rage
So I was driving home from work today and i look in my rear view mirror and see this gold Ford Taurus riding my bumper. This is the road i take home and to work and every other place everyday, speed limit 25. Since my 1.6L manual Pro requires lots of shifting, and the road is on a hill, i generally do 35-40 in third gear home. I make a turn and this guy follows. I speed up to like 45. It really starts to scare me when he continues to follow. I hit a long straightaway and accelerate to 55-60. The guy backs off. Two minutes later I reach home and pull in ym driveway. I look in my rear view again and the guy is there, sitting in the middle of the road at the end of my driveway staring at me. I'm freaking out at this point. So i get out of the car and he starts to yell at me for going too fast, rambling about how he has his daughter out playing and i was driving recklessly. I felt like saying, "well, if you werent tailgating me, i might not have sped so much." Then i notice he has antennas on his car. We have a Maryland State Trooper who lives in our neighborhod so now I'm thoroughly scared. So, after a good minute of yelling at me, after which i thoroughly feel like ****, he leaves. Well, later, I'm coming home and see the rear end of a gold Ford Taurus sitting in a garage, antennas and all. I'm pretty sure it was the same car. Heres the kicker. This guy isnt even the state trooper! Now i'm extremely pissed and feel like ****. My parents are like calling the State Police and everything, talking about confronting the guy. I'm just like leave it alone, i'll just have to slow down. What do you think?
Whoo! That feels better. Just had to vent.

I say go over there and kick his ***. Do it slowly and painfully, and ask the guy am I going to fast you motha fu--?! I know that is what you would like to do. I had some one cut me off and just took it. I wouldn't have done so except my gf at the time was in the car. I went around the woman and later, she flies up behind me and starts tailgating me. I pressed the brakes a little to warn her to back off (in a nice way) and she didn't do so, so I pressed on the brake harder the next time. The next thing I know, the psycho bitch flies around me flips me off and cut me off (I could have let her side swipe me if I remained the speed I was going). I was raging mad that it took a day or two of running different scenarios of what I could have done or should have done before I was finally able to just get over it.
In your case, I wouldn't worry about it. The cops may not be able to do much even if he was impersonating a cop with his car (unless he had sirens and blue lights). Otherwise, if they did do anything which most likely, they wouldn't, it would be your word against his. And if contacted, he may do something stupid and immature like messing up your car.

leave it alone, he didnt acyually say he was a cop, you just thought he was. because of the antennas. also on a side note i had a guy call the cops on my yesterday, because i cut him off, after i cut him off we hit a redlight, he yells out his window, i just called in your plates in to the cops, so i gave him a big thumbs up and continued on my way, so i turn into the mall, so does he, so i drive like all around, and he is still following me. so i downshift, and lose him before he even knew what to do. i wasn't real scared because he was in like a 1990 chevy conversion van.

simple you ever get a tailgaiter again go instantly into OLD GRANNY MODE, you simple drop your speed by 15, turn on your right turn signal and continue to drive as if nothing is out of the norm, garnetteed people will back off
and yes people do have issues, ive had the cops called on me for going to "quick" thro my subdivision, never broke the speed limit (50km/h) anywho cops never came to me directly just noticed they were around my place a lil more than usally, the neightbour confronts me himself all pissy and going on bout me speeding for months and him having a problem with it, i simply said "why didnt you tell me a few months ago?"
he had no responce, i would have gladly slowed to 20 or whatever he wanted for him if he just asked instead of calling the police, people DO have issues

When somebody tailgates me I usually just slow down a lot. If I had a crapy old car I didn't care about I would probably just slam on the brakes. You have to be careful if you slow down while they are tailgating. A few times people have passed me and then cut me off and slammed on their brakes.

If I feel someone is following me, I don't go straight to my destination..
If someone tailgates me, I usually slow down a lot (not slam the brakes)
During the day I will sometimes shake my finger in the rearview mirror....and I will not speed back up until they back off..

people do have issues which might get a problem for YOU!
if you wanna get him a little intimidated do the following..call your local police station, tell them what happened PLUS that he pretended to be some official guy (state trooper or something?) and that you were really scared although you didn't do anything bad. and tell them that you saw he was a neighbor and NOT an official...
tell them that it cannot be that some private people walk around, pretend to be officials and scare people with wrong accusations...
if there's something real officials do not like, then it's people who act like that..
have fun watching and listening when they arrive at his place because they will find "proof" for what you said when they look at his car... :-)

You did the right thing by letting it go. All too often I get caught up in the un-written rules of the road (an *******'s driving edition), and do unto others as they do unto me.
I'm starting to get a little better though, I usually drive the speed limit now, and I don't flip out when people pass me... Tailgaters are fun though, I also bust out the granny mode (minus the turn signal), and if they try and pass me, I rip through my gears like schumaker....
Come to think of it, I'm not getting MUCH better... hahahaha
