Road Trips?
Out of curiosity, what's the furthest drive you gone on with your protege? I'm heading south to Orlando and Daytona in about 2 weeks and considering driving my car down I-75 from Toronto. Howbad were the stone chips, bugs etc...

Minneapolis/St Paul to Denver and back, back in March. 1900 miles round trip. It's a great highway car. Got about 32 mpg and never once had a sore back from driving. I had to talk my way out of 2 speeding tickets, though. It's very happy at 80+mph on the interstate...
I'm driving to Copper Harbor, Michigan at the end of the month...2 lane twisties the whole way!

From Va to NYC more then 5 times. Yea the protege is an excellent highway car. As for the little chips n stones, I put clear tape on my lenses so when the lil stones n stuff hit the lenses they won't crack. So far the tape has been workin

Went around Washington State not too long ago. About 15-20 hour drive on 7 hours of sleep, around 500 miles. We (my girlfriend and I) stopped in the mountains for lunch then we decided to go to Seattle for a couple of hours. Then headed back to the Tri-Cities where we live, this was on the first day of Memorial Day weekend no less...
I have also driven to Spokane too many times, the Dalles, Portland, and Eugene, Oregon. I think these are the only places in the Pro where I drove... oh well, it was a long time ago

I have done a trip to Nashville, TN from Rochester, NY and back (~1600 miles total for the trip) twice with the P5.
The ride was pretty good and I had no issues with the car...
Stone chips were no worse than on my other car on that trip (I don't recall getting any new ones on those particular drives). And since they were in winter the bugs were a non issue...
I will say that the front of the P5 recently is a bug massacre device... I have made several early evening runs from Rochster to Albany and I actually stopped at the rest stop each time to clean the bugs off the glass... after each trip cleaning the nose of the car has been a pain in the butt!

I drove my '03 ES to Clearwater Beach, FL and back two weeks ago and it was a sweet ride! I got a few comments about my car in FL, evidentally they don't sell my color down there. Oh well! 1800 miles round trip and not a noticeable scratch or ding anywhere from the highway! Actually it was I-75!!! HaHa!

I still havent decided yet if im taking my car yet. I did this trip last summer in my gf's car and we may take it again. I just think it might be fun taking my car. The only problem is that my car is stick and the woman cant drive stick, plus I have leather so it may get kinda sweaty after a while, plus my exhaust may get annoying after a while, plus I have a front lip so if I hit a turtle again like last year it will destroy it. I dunno. We'll see.

Well it wasn't with the P5 but with my MX -3 we drove from Ottawa, Ontario to Banff on the border of British Colombia and Alberta. That was one hell of a trip! On the way back we hit a bear and the battery exploded! Made it home eventually!
