Some know no shame
Today I was waiting at a light, headed for lunch with my gf. Couple of lanes over I see a black first gen Miata pull up. In the (thankfully few) seconds before I lost sight of it, I noted the following:
-Side skirts/rear skirt of some unknown (and hideous) style
-pedestal style rear wing (although some reason prevailed and it was sized for the car)
-square-cut exhaust tip
-chrome hubcaps (WTF?)!!!
I could do nothing but shake my head. If I see it again in town I will try to get a picture so you can all see the horror.
Some people really should get some sort of clue...

My thoughts is to not do any major body modifications to any vehicle. It may look good and set you apart for 5-10 years, but after that it kind of looks bad.
Think about it. Look at a 1966 Mustang Fastback. Would you want one that has tons of body mods, one one that looks more or less stock. This is why I respect what they do on "overhaulin'" (classy mods) versus "pimp my ride" (over the top mods that scream gheto)

I was watching T.V. the other day and saw something I would have NEVER expected..
Trick My Truck..
its a show on CMT(not i dont watch CMT, my parents do and thats where the TV was at when I came in and saw it)
Its a show where people that own this shop kinda like the other shows, and take people who "deserve" it, take their 18 wheeler trucks, and completly re do them..
its pretty cool b/c its soo different and some of the crazy things they do...its interesting..

The hard top is an accessory to make it more civilized to drive in the winter. If you look at SCCA road races you will generally see Miatas being raced with a hard top as it stiffens the body structure.
Talked to my brother the other day who lives in the same area I do, and he says he has seen this particular Miata as well. He has owned two so he is really horrified. I'll try to remember to start carrying my camera with me so I can get a shot next time I see it.

Definitely...I'd love/hate to see photos of that Miata.
I find it odd when people say that a hardtop makes it more 'civilized' to drive in the winter. I don't have a hardtop on my Miata and it is perfectly fine in the winter. It's not cold in the least bit.
