speeding ticket help
ok I was driving my friends Ford Probe
and there was a guy in the fast lane going really slow, and i wanted to teach my friend how to slow down the car by downshifting.
So what i did was speed up and pass him. and then went in front and slowed down. I got to some lights, and the police officer said i had gone up to 101 kmph.
what makes this worse was that i only have a G1, and my friend hasd a G2, but he can't shift properly, so he told me to get in and show him how to shift and all that, and we were gonna switch around seats right after we had done this, which would have been the next lights
(Basically i was showing him how to start off without jerking the car and all)
so the cop pulled us over, and gave me 2 tickets, one for not beeing with a driver of 4 years experience, and one for speeding.
Do you think i can fight this in court by saying
1. I had to teach my friend how to drive properly, thats for me driving (my friend has G2 so he allowed to drive with out accompaning driver)
2. I sped up to show him how to downshift to slow down, I had to speed up so that I can shift to 3rd, and then downshift to 2nd to show him how the downshifting would work
I seriously thought I was in an 80 Zone, but it was a 70 Zone. And the cop doesn't listen neway.
So could i fight this in court, beeing like i had to teach my friend how to shift properly.
Do you guys think that would work in court
Damn I don't want my parents to find out, so I'm hopeing the officer doesn't show up to court, and I get off from the tickets.
But do you think those arguments would stand their ground fairly in court...at least to get the ticket reduced, and noo demerit points, I already got 4, from one speeding ticket. don't want ne more
Please, any help is appreciated!! and any other suggestions along the lines of that story (which was tru)

First, it doesn't matter that you were "teaching" your friend how to drive. You are not allowed to drive a car with your G1 unless there is a driver in the car with 4 years of driving experience. There really is no excuse for that.
Second, doing 31 Km/h over the speed limit to pass somebody is really excessive. How slow were they going that you needed to go that fast to pass them?
Something doesn't make sense though, why would you speed up and go into the fast lane and then downshift to second to slow down? Especially if you are doing 100 Km/h, downshifting to second is not a smart idea.

no they were going really slow, I sped up past them, went back into the slow lane, and slowed down, to about 80kmph so that when we reach the lights i could show him the downshifting while i was slowing down for the lights, but it would work if i was still in second, cuz thats what we were in while following the guy, so I wanted to get it into third so that i could downshift into second, the thing is I'm used to the slower accel of our proteges, so when i pushed on the throttle to speed up it sped up right away, and thas when i hit 101kmph
I wanted to be nicely into third gear, and then slow down a bit, down to 2nd to slow down a bit, plus i didn't want to downshift at 101kmph, i just hit that to pass the guy, i slowed down after that

Been there, done that except for the G1 thing. I got hit with doing 100km/h in a 60km/h zone. It was a pretty hefty fine.
Call the phone number on the back of the ticket to make an appointment for a first appearance. Then go and plead your reason with the defence attorney and he will offer you a reduced fine. If you decide not to go with their offer it then goes before the judge. Even if you accept the reduced fine it still has to go before the judge.
Second alternative is the go to one of those services for fighting tickets. It will probably cost as much as the fine but they will most likely save you demerit points.
Good luck!
