SVT tour rollover

One of my fellow members of the CEG group rolled his SVT contour this past weekend. Here is the video:

SVT tour rollover

He got out quick.

I feel bad for anyone that does that to a new car.

Man that hurts, I think a tear just came to my eye, especially being a former owner of a Contour SVT. I’ve spent a lot of work hours over at the CEG board and it’s nice to see a familiar name.

You think THAT's bad?

I can feel for that guy in the SVT.. Here are the pics after my friend and I wrecked his '96 Contour by barreling down I-595 in Ft. Lauderdale at 80mph and jumping a divider wall.

We basically hit the wall, flew through the air for about 25ft. hit the ground on the passenger (my) side roof, then flipped 5 times and traveled, and I quote from the officer, "146 yards".

Luckily, we landed on the wheels (or what's left of them) and we both had our seatbelts on, only minor cuts, bruises, and fractures.

ENJOY!

Bryan, yes the track is in Iowa but im not sure exactly where. From what i saw its not the safest as there is not much run off space and its really narrow.

We were headed down an offramp and my not-too-bright friend decided to throw a cassette tape out the window at a passing car as we exited the highway and the front left tire of the car caught the grass (at 80 mph) and caused the car to swerve uncontrollably and we headed up the embankment and jumped the divider wall between the off-ramp and the rest of the highway.

Fun stuff....

i'm not understanding this, how did YOU swerve up the embankment, when your (politely) "not-too-bright" friend threw the tape at another car? or was it the other car that caught the grass?

He was driving and I was in the passenger seat.... he had his left hand on the steering wheel and threw the cassette out the drivers window with his right hand, causing his left hand (still on the wheel) to jerk to the left. This caused the front left tire to catch the grass that was on the left of the car (while going down the off ramp)

Get it? hehe
