Tell me what you think of this deal....New here

GF just picked up a '00 Protege LX. Basically loaded, Sand Mica with Tan interior, 5spd, Power everything, Moonroof, Cassette/CD, no ABS. Nice unmolested car driven by a woman with 40K miles. 2 new rear tires. Well maintained and clean. She paid just under book value. Nice running car. Fun to drive.

Needs Bigger rims and tires. Shifter vibrates like mad. It would make a hooker blush. Definatly underpowered compared to my '03 Cavalier. The Cassette player(guessing dealer installed) doesn't work. Not sure if it is plugged in or what.

Overall a nice car.

Any cures for the vibrating shifter? Also, any vendors/sponsors that deal in just Protege parts?

Thanks all.

Maybe shifter bushings are f*cked up and need to be replaced. Either that, or maybe the tranny mounts. Come check out www.clubprotege.com if you haven't already. There are many people with the car like yours that can help you answer your question better.

If I'm not mistaken, proteges came with standrad CD player starting with the 98 model year.

My shifter vibrates pretty good
I think its not too abnormal.
EDIt: never mind, just read that it had both.

borken tape deck, no abs, shifter problems, no automatic.....I wouldn't consider this loaded. Not a bad buy depending on what you paid....THATS the determining factor.

Well the slow part is probably due to the fact it's a 1.6L, no?
