Coast, Sm-oast!
It's hard to beat the beautiful, sandy white beaches, blue waters, and piney forests of the great lakes. Trust me when I say that, standing on the beaches of Lake Huron or lake Michigan, that aside from missing salt and no tides, you can't tell the difference from the ocean (strecthes as far as the eye can see). Better yet, up in Petoskey, Traverse City, Mackinac, Saugatuck, and countless other lakeside towns offer great food, beautiful downtowns, and lots to do. The clean northern waters and deep woods are a sportsman's paradise. We've got huge sand dunes that are a lot of fun to play in with a Jeep.
Personally, I prefer the Huron coast. There are more vintage light houses, less people, and it just happens to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. In July, temperatures will hover in the eighties, stay warm at night, and humidity will not be so bad.
Ever seen American Pie 2? Yes, those are Michigan beaches...

I've never been to Michigan OR the East coast for that matter. My brother-in-law is getting married in May and they are doing it in Key West. So that's where I'll be! Should be pretty cool....Duval Street...Margaritaville...ahhhhhh.

Check out Petoskey, on the northwest corner of the lower peninsula. There is a good reason why Hemmingway chose to write about the little town that he grew up in, years later when he was living in the adventure and romance of Paris.

The wife and I went to Boston last summer and had a great time taking all the sights in. I know we sound old, but hell we're only in our late 20's so they have something for all I think. Great local brew pubs too.
The U.P. of Michigan was nice too.

Hey Matt, My friend has a beach house here in Gulf Shores (mobile, AL). It's about 10 minutes from the ocean and the "strip". We usually go down and stay in his guest house in the summer. Maybe I can get him to let us share it for a few days this summer.....that is unless you don't wanna party with me!
