A Vette Is Now Totally Ruined!
Ok, so I work at Shaganappi Chev. Olds. We're the largest (by volume) Chevy dealer in Western Canada. Right now we're having a "tent sale" where all 2002's and some 2003's are sold for below cost to clear some inventory. Anyway, 2 nights ago, some people decided to break into the tent by cutting a hole in our fence, then slashing the tent open. Once inside, they went straight for the 2002 Corvette. It's black with Saddle interior and top. We found it yesterday morning, sitting on 2 jackstands and a leafblower, with the front left side all crushed in from where it had been dropped off the jack. They didn't take anything except the wheels, and the car was unlocked with the top down. We're pretty open around here about trusting customers and stuff, but now because of this, we've had a security guard posted round the clock.
Whoever took them knew what they were after, and exactly how to get in and out. They obviously scouted out the area beforehand. It must have taken at least 3-5 guys, because those wheels are heavy as ****, and you wouldn't want to be in there for more than about 15 mins, even at 3:00am... The car is wrecked now, with substantial body and suspension damage from having been dropped off one of their jacks. The Po didn't find much, but I'm sure they'll be caught in the end.
Is it worth it? Those wheels are only worth about $1400CAD on the street, which doesn't go 4 ways very easily, and you'd almost have to have a buyer lined up already. If you can afford a Vette, why would you have to steal the wheels? They went for the one in the tent I feel because it's sheltered from view. We have 8 other Vette's on the lot, but they're all outside where they could have been seen.
Sad when **** like this happens... When will people learn...
