You know if parents would spend a little more time with their kids it wouldn’t be a problem. I don’t think programming should be changed just b/c of the lazy Asses that don’t want to spend time with their kids. And would rather have the TV do the parenting. That is the problem. If they are going to watch TV the parents need to know what they are watching. Remember having a kid is a choice that rest of us shouldn't have to pay for it. Anyone wants to have a kid that’s fine heck that’s great. But think about it before.
I don’t blame the kids. I blame their parents.
Right on brotha... I think the most responsible kids are the ones who respect and love their parents like me. ****, I just turned 20 on Saturday, and I have a highschool degree, vocational degree, and Assosiates degree, a great fulltime job in my major, a great girlfriend, my own apartment, money in the bank...... It's all about the parents, I just hope I can be as good as my parents were/are.

I also noticed that there is more cussing and "skin" being shown these days. Even on shows that are seasonal. I wish they would pull their heads out of their asses and realize that all they are doing is contributing to what is killing america.

Warning! long and boring! Sorry for the novel, but im pretty interested in this...

Television/media is contributing to violence in three ways:
1. De-Sensitation. Kids see murders and blood thousands of times over and over until they stop flinching. Then they stop flinching in real life too.
2. Mean-World Syndrome - High television viewers are far more likely to over-estimate the presence of law-enforcement and to over estimate the cance of violent crime happening to them.
3. Conditioning - I can never remember the third one, and my teacher has all my research, but im pretty sure it's called conditioning. Watching violent television leads to short term and long term violence. Children who are heavy violent television viewers are the most likely to be rated by their peers and teachers as being the most violent and life-long heavy viewers are three hundred percent more likely to be convicted of a violent crime.

These three effects have been concluded by many indepent studies, such as one recently done by the APA (American Psychologist Association). I have a couple problems with it, mostly the conditioning thing. First i dont believe the 300% thing, the study wasnt big enough to accurately conclude that. Second, high-risk children (aka bad parents) watch the most TV, so it makes sense that they are the most violent.

Anyway, the thing about TV that really gets me is how they protray adults and the quality of interactions between characters on children's cartoons. Adults are always the evil bad guys, and the characters dont respect them, so it makes to me that kids dont respect their teachers or whatever. This is really why i think TV is ruing the world. It sets poor role models for kids. I've rambled enough tho so i'll stop here. Bottom line: bad role models. Anyone who wants links to research about this, send me a pm.
