What's the beef with Hondas?
Seriously, I don't get it. First and foremost, I am a Honda owner. I bought a Mazda because Honda doesn't make a small wagon and the P5 fit the bill as well as looked really cool. Generally, this is a pretty cool forum to read and informative, but why the need to rip on Hondas?
This is my first Mazda; prior to this, I was almost exclusively a Honda owner. Every Honda I have had, with the exception of my '76 Civic, has been rock solid reliable. The styling was really nice, interior well appointed, controls were laid out in a logical way, and the engineering was exhaustive to the point of road noise and wind noise being at a minimum or seemingly nonexistent. Some of those are things I can NOT say about my P5: the wind noise is horrendous, and some genius thought it was smart to put the lighter behind a cupholder? rendering the cupholder useless if you have anything plugged in! I'm also finding the air conditioning inadequate and loud. In spite of all of these things, I like my P5 and am not bashing it or Mazda on the S2000 website that I frequent.
So my question is this: do you guys just need some other make of car to bash on to make yourselves feel superior? Mazda makes a good car; Honda does too. For that matter, Nissan, Subaru, and any number of other good Japanese cars exist too. I'm a little beyond the stage of this lingo, but why do you have to be haters? I really like this forum, but this bit of unnecessary, baseless bias really grates me.

Word up I support your 100%. I get pissed at my P5 too and sometimes wish I got a Honda. Dunno why people hate on Hondas, I just hate on ricers. And no car is immune to being riced out. Its not just Civics, and Integras that are riced. Hell some chode muncher even posted his P5 here with a big *** rice aluminum wing on it. So basically I dunno i lost my train of thought, but Hondas are kick *** cars.

dunno if there is any static with hondas, but i think it's more of an identity thing. i mean, hondas have dominated the market for the last few years and it seems that ricers (not your average honda owner) thinks their ride is the ****, when in reality, it looks like all the others. so i think it's more a beef with ricers, and like sweeden said, it's not limited to hondas.
onehawaiian likes honda accord. no rice please. (i get enough of that at breakfast, lunch and dinner!) and i definitely like the honda s2000.
me no hatey the hondas.

sorry if some of the negative honda comments rub ya the wrong way. i guess they seem to be an easy and popular target...

Honda makes a great car and even better motor, V-TEC,b16 b18 h22 and so on . People in this forum dont hate hondas they are just tired of the ricers who think hondas are the only cars on the planet. They are also mad because they keep getting there asses kicked by the V-TEC,

Glad to see that I wasn't totally right on the Honda hater thing, I just found the blind bias annoying.

In all honesty there is no way to get rid of it. It's not Honda against the world. Every car enthusiast site has statements that bash other cars. Those said comments by a few particular individuals are not the sole view of the entire site.
There is no way to stop it. Until every car in the entire world is the same it will continue.
Plus it's pretty funny to watch sometimes.

I don't really hate hondas, they are nice cars. I just hate on ugly gutless hondas. You know, the ones where someone puts rims, tires, a wing, a nice stereo, and the "powered by honda" sticker on the windshield and they think that that gives them the right to lean their seat back, put on a visor, and think that they are the shiznit.
Anyways, I bought a Protege for several reasons. They got rave reviews from Consumer Reports and just about everywhere else. Protege came with more stock horsepower, better looks (in my opinion), just as good if not better handling, and a lower price tag. Besides, I got in with the 0% financing.
Now, the new 2003 Civic Si. Nice car, except that it looks like Honda's version of the Echo. It's ugly! The only problem is if I race one, I'll get beat before we reach a 1/4 mile and I'll have to pull over and pick my *** up out of the street before someone runs over it...
Yes, yes, Honda is a worthy opponent! I'll just have to rely on my driving skills when it comes to the new Civic Si...

i think i know why so many mazda [specifically, protege] owners voice such animosity towards honda cars/owners....
we're all just jealous because of the honda/acura bias of most of the aftermarket companies. you have to admit, despite the fact that a few companies have begun supporting the 3G protege as a tuner platform, it is a HELLUA lot easier/cheaper to get parts to kit out a civic/integra than it is for our cars.
also, this level of aftermarket support seems to be self-furthering. once one company makes a supercharger/turbo/nos system, all of the other supercharger/turbo/nos system maufacturers seem to hop on board and make a system. now the market is SATURATED with performance parts, some great, some not-so-great, for the honda camp. [essentially, the same thing is happening now with turbo kits for the 3G protege. first, Tri-point, then MS/callaway, then BEGI (the one i will probably get), now M2.] it's a cascade effect that honda/acura has had the good fortune to be at the start of......
