Why do you blur out the plates in photos?

Just wondering, I saw a bunch of photos on the board and vast majority of people blur out or just cut out the license plate tags.

Any particular reasons for doing that?

prolly cause you can tell all the info on the driver from the plates. their name, address, and so on. some people dont want to chance it .

Yea, privacy issue... Although, I really don't care personally, some people may.

supposedly privacy issue... in CA you can't get anything but smog info, unless you're creative

besides, the wrong info would come up if you tried on my car

I don't really get it myself...

Some people say its privacy reasons, security, etc.... but wtf do you do on the street? Do you cover your plates while you drive down the road too?

LoL, I was thinking the same thing. Do you drive really fast down your street so you can be sure nobody followed you home? Paranoia if you ask me

well you have to remeber , you never know who may have the hook up .. suppose someone knows someone and the DMV and they get your plate off the net. You live in the same town , he goes and gets your addy and all that from his buddy and then comes and rips your car off.
You do have to be carefull....
I think they can get info also from your Vin number also. I know people in the DMV that I used to work at and when I went there to pursue the title for the 323. Lets just say I found out who the last title owner was in NYC......
address was stored to

This is why TheMan was saying that he covered his VIN.. I tend to do the same thing .. but frigin nyc prints it on your registration sticker.
