Will installing an Intake kill my car's life?

Thinking of getting one of those AEM cold air intakes for my car to get a little boost. I don't want people to think I'm one of those modifiers, so I thought this was the cleanest way to go. Will this kill my car's life? Thanks for any advice.

no if anything it will help if you maintain it and clean the filter when you're supposed to. intake upgrades usually increase your fuel mileage, and give you a bit of a power gain.

kenji! how's your new honda? ha ha ha, i'm just playing! hope you're ripping it up on the streets. okay, i need to ask, didja get the regular one, or the hybrid (is it out yet?). i saw the pics of the new civic hybrid and i was pretty impressed! i'm not selling out on my p5, but with gas prices climbing again, i sometimes wish i had a car that could do 50mi/gal

okay, this has nothing to do with your thread cause i wouldn't know the answer to your question, but just thought i'd ask about your ride.

The new hybrid's not all that great - looks OK, decent mileage, etc., but it's still only in the high 40s. You'll never make up the difference in cost with gas savings unless it shoots up to $5+/gallon within the next year, and even then to do it you'd have to be driving enough to hit that 80,000 mile battery warranty in 5 years or less.

I thought about one, but for the price it just wasn't that much more compelling than the regular Civic EX (and I went with the P5 instead).

dude i live on an island. 40mi/gal? that'll take me around the island and then some! ha ha. every little bit helps as prices have climbed back up to $161/gal...altho it has been up to 189/gal here in my town. on the big island (80mi around, lol) prices are over $2/gal! i'm just saying i wish my p5 had that kinda gas mileage is all.
