Worst Morning Of My Life... My Car Is Ruined
#16
Try hitting a moose, you will be lucky to have a roof after that. Deer are pretty good at not killing people, they are small and usually (as in this case) just get pulled around the car or under it. A bull moose or elk will collapse onto the car, and shear the **** out of the roof. We were lucky to walk away from our incident with Bullwinkle.
On another note, I am glad I am in Sask., our base deductible (for everyone, regardless of age) is $700 CAD. And that's with $1000 CAD plates. Add a couple hundred, and I got (clean record, 24yr old) collision down to $100, and comprehensive down to $50. Here is Saskatchewan, they waive the deductible if you hit wildlife, b/c there is so damn much of it probably.
And remember kids, slow down and save a buck OR slow down and save a little doe.

Nick, screw the car. I am really glad the RICRKID is still here. Before I met you guys in Cow-Poke (6 months previous) I was in a t-bone accident in Edmonton (Stoney Trail road and 174st.). I was in a coma for 24 days at the Royal Alexander Hospital up there and I am still recovering. I had a brain injury (it's amazing how sensitive your brain is and what it controls). I had to learn everything again; walking, eating, you name it...sorry; I have a habit turning a story such as this to being something about myself. Sorry, I am just glad I am the only one that has been through this crap. Like I said; I am very glad your alright. RICRKID lives on!!!!!

Sorry to hear about the car bro. damn the hardest part I have to say is the CF hood .. but hell with it all , cars are material ,, your life is the real thing that counts.
as for fixing the car, well if you work in a body shop , I figure that there should be a lot of the work that you can do for yourself. which would basically mean that you have to take the bumper and fender and hood off and check to internal damage(**** you can't see) .. With a 3,000 dollar deductable, you might as well just hammer the cost yourself. To be honest, if it were me . I would just hit the junkyards and look for a good fender, and a bumper-- unless you want a kit then that is different.
Figure you can do most of the body pulling yourself -- you should have the tools or can put the car on the frame straightener at work.
well best of luck to you bro , I really hope you get everything fixed and back to how you had it ... cause we all love that sweet Red Protege 5 ...
Just don't forget ,,www.car-part.com is your friend ..

Aftermath
So me and my Dad went back to the scene this morning and had a look at the culprit to take some pictures, etc. (Just in case.) They're a bit graphic, so I'l lwarn you now, but In the long and the short of it all, the deer got the short end of the stick.
Yes, that is it's legbone... In a way I felt bad that I killed it, but the fucken thing ran out in front of me! It likely died instantly though. Good thing the car did what it was supposed to. I nthe third pic, that's me standing at the point of impact. Notice how far the deer flew - turns out it wasn't a doe after all!

at least you are alright. I had a similiar incident with my dads vette', and it only cost $1500 to fix. Listen, as everyone else has said, a car is replacable, at least you are ok.....Good luck with the repairs.

dude, i know it's only the wrong thing to do, so i'm going to suggest it. go back to the scene of the accident, pick bambi up off the side of the road and bring it home, carve him up, sell the meat on ebay and make some money off that damn thing, after all, you killed it fair and square, just like a hunter would. it's one expensive hunt, but might as well make some money off it. good luck bro
