WTC Ideas

Since Ground Zero was closed, what's next?

Think they should just have a big park in memorium?
Think The should rebuild the same?
Think they should rebuild different? Maybe bigger and better?

I want to her opinions.

This was ganked from other forums but what do you think about this?

I would want a memorial park, with names of all the people that were lost on 9/11 inscribed on a center piece. Maybe a miniturized 'twin tower' statue with names on them?

i would build a bigger tower (cheaply of course) and new legit trade center would actually be a front for all these hardcore army fellas waiting to kick @ss.

actually, a memorial would be cool.

I honestly have to tell you that there won't be a park , there most likely will be a small memorial park yes, but you have to remeber that the WTC was the main financial building , everything went down in that building and the others , so they will most likely 98% rebuild the building , but I can guarantee that it won't be as tall as the twin towers was, simply cause of evacuation reasons, and also the threat of the landmark being a target for aholes in the future

I think a park or a memorial would be a great idea. Building another tower(s) would be a waste of time, money and effort. IMO. Also I do not think any other tower(s) would be able to carry the same iamge that WTC towers used to have (before 9/11). IMO

yes while you are right you have to remeber that they have to replace the financial bldg , haven't you noticed how hard it is to get a job in certain fields, i actually have more work than I can handle in security cuase this field is being requested more and mroe .. anyway we need that financial bldg replaced, and also there are so many other bldgs that have to be rebuilt , nyc is not nyc without that financial bldg, something is really missing here ,,..

well, i think they should rebuild and make it just as tall or even taller. but also add emergency slides for evacuation. maybe every 4 flights or so, alongside the emergency stairs. faster evac time, and since they'll be short rides, it'll be pretty safe.

but they should rebuild to show the world the us ain't a bunch of panties.

it would make mroe money to rebild and be able to USE the land to make money...

think of it this way. Your house burns down. Now do you make a park in its place? and then ahev to buy ANOTHER plot of land? or do you jsut build another house, which is cheaper...
yeah but if you loose your son or daughter in that house do you move back in ,,, this is just on the flip side of the coin and I am not trying to upset anyone ,, just an opinion

that's exactly why I say build a memorial park there. In a way that's the GRAVE of 2000+ people that were never identified from the rubbles, you have to respect that....

but, ultimately $$$ wins, they'll probably rebuild it back into commercial buildings, with a tiny little plaque somewhere saying this is where 9/11 happened...

I think that all those events (and loss of lives)are worth more to americans than a park,or a re-building of it all.
As for the landmark issue,if they rebuild the towers as tall as they were, its almost a provocation for the nation/faction who destroyed the 1st towers...rebuiding taller skycrapers would not only confirm that americans are excessively proud and ''strong'' from their own point of view,it would also just make it easier for the ennemy to target that same place again.....i am neutral when it comes to politics/religion/patriotism but i still have an opinion on all this, and I believe they should just make a giant university on that land.

Well speaking as a person who used to live in NYC, saw the World Trade Center fall with my own eyes, and lose dear friends in it, you'd think I want a big park.

In my eyes no. The WTC made the New York City skyline. I never could imagine it without it. If it was up to me, I say, rebuild it EXACTLY the same. Take the necessary precautions to make sure it doesn't happen again.

What would be a bigger "F U" to the terrorists, than to not even be able to tell that the WTC was destroyed. Of course, the promenade around the WTC should be in memory. Say ever brick that makes up the walkway have a name on it. Or a museum.

Of course I doubt that will ever happen. Like it was posted before. It is owned by one person. One person holds the deed to that property, and basically it is up to them. God help us if they have bad taste.

i think they should make 4 smaller towers, with a memorial in the center of it, i think that would make everyne happy, though i gotta admit, placing a few SAMs up there would be a good idea, also i think the army should base there antiterroism offices out of ther too, just so Bin LAden knows that he helped build them

If my house were to burn down, and take a few thousand people that were living in there, then yes, I would build a park there. No matter how much money you can make of rebuilding the building and leasing or what ever, you will never replace the lives of people that were lost that day. It is not always about the profit.
