Well everytime we get alot of snow, the salt trucks scour the city and salt the roads. When the snow starts to melt on warm days, all the spray from cars in front of you covers your car....easy as that. Now unless u want to spend thousands of dollars in car washes your car gets dirty. I get mine washed once every two weeks.

I,m from the Ottawa Valley in Ontario .Here it snows they put down lots of salt,it melts the snow ,creates a worse driving hazard ,slush .The slush pulls your car all over the place ,its vey hard to control ,then they plow . This is to save money .yeah right . Mind you once the roads are clear its nice to drive on dry pavement .
The major drawback of this is you have to paint the front end every 2 years . While at least i do .

that ***** crazy. i couldnt handle that much salt. i like to wash my car, (as a matter of fact, i'm about to go do that after this) but having to deal with that much freakin salt? hell nah. i thought colorado was bad about it, it's nothing here compared to you guys. we use salt/gravel mixture. the gravel is worse than the ice. but still, that much salt is nuts. you can keep that ****

Crap... I hope it don't snow no more in Jersey this year. We just went into severe drought warning, and I don't know when I'm going to be able to wash the car again.
I mean, If I was hooked up to the city water, I'd drive my car into the fenced off backyard and let 'er rip... but I'm on a well
I stand a good chance of having good clean water while the city water gets brachish and gross, but then I also run the risk of going completely dry...
Someone said we need like 21 days of non-stop rain to catch up!

Actually, in Calgary they don't use salt at all (except for specific icy problem spots that are manually de-iced). Instead the sanding trucks drop gravelwhich doesn't cause as much corrosion, but is hell on windshields when it's flung at you at 100km/h by some stupid lifted truck that has no rear mudflaps. My windshield already has on huge crack all the way across the bottom and tons of little chips and nicks after only 1.5 winters. Plus there are quite a few paint dings on the front end.
They really should make rear mudflaps mandatory here, but I am a hypocrite since I don't feel like spending $70 at the dealer or $10 on crappy-looking ones.

I used to live in downtown Calgary, trust me they use lots of salt. After a good snow fall and melt the streets would be white. In fact many curb side newspaper boxes were rusted right out from the road salt.

I miss CA too. I was born in Sonoma (napa valley; where you get all of your wine). Here when it snows they just bring out some plows. And people can't drive in the snow here. They haul *** into peoples front yards because they still drive like 10-15 mph over the speed limit. CA has the best drivers of all the places I live.
